Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship 2026 will be held in Ahmedabad.
The inaugural Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship 2026 will run from October 21 to 31. The tournament will feature 14 Commonwealth nations competing for the title.
The Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI) has announced 17 probable players for the practice camp ahead of the Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship, including some notable Indian stars. However, the list excludes several other prominent players.
India‘s 12 star players who travelled to Japan for the Asian Games 2026 and won a gold medal for the country are not featured in the probable list.
Several other star players are also not included, raising questions about the selection. On that note, let’s take a closer look at the players who are missing from the list.

Since strong teams like Iran and Chinese Taipei are not in this tournament, the Asian Games gold medalists may have been rested, and other talented players not selected for the Asian Games got a chance.
However, several other players who have performed well recently have been overlooked, sparking discussion and debate among fans and experts.
The major names missing from the list for the practice camp are:
- Sunil Kumar – Defender
- Pawan Sehrawat – All-rounder
- Aslam Inamdar – All-rounder
- Arjun Deshwal – Raider
- Ayan Lohchab – Raider
- Devank Dalal – Raider
- Ashu Malik – Raider
- Rahul Sethpal – Defender
- Jaideep Dahiya – Defender
- Sumit Sangwan – Defender
- Ankit Jaglan – Defender
- Gaurav Khatri – Defender
- Vijay Malik – All-rounder
- Abinesh Nadrajan – Defender

Apart from the Asian Games stars, the other players who were not included have performed well in domestic tournaments and the Pro Kabaddi League over the past few years.
The talent pool of Indian players is vast, and it is not an easy task for selectors to decide which players to prioritise. However, if they continue to play like this, they might also be selected for the Indian team in the future.
