Ex-Indian Kabaddi captain Deepak Hooda accused of demanding dowry by wife & Indian boxer Saweety Boora

Both Deepak Hooda and Sweety Boora have filed complaints against each other in different police stations.
Former Indian Kabaddi team skipper Deepak Niswas Hooda and two-time World Championship medal-winning boxer Saweety Boora have filed complaints against each other at the Hisar and Rohtak police stations. The former has been accused of charges of domestic violence and demand for dowry, while the latter is facing allegations of financial foul play.
Saweety Boora has claimed that her husband physically assaulted her and demanded Rs 1 crore with an SUV as dowry. On the other hand, Hooda has claimed that the boxer’s family tried to usurp his property and threaten him.
The Hisar police, the city from which Boora hails, has filed an FIR under various sections of the BNS against the 30-year-old former Kabaddi star. Hisar SP Shashank Kumar Sawan acknowledged that a notice was issued to Hooda regarding the marital dispute, but he did not respond.
Saweety Boora, aged 32, used to participate previously in the light heavyweight category but shifted to the middleweight event to be eligible to participate in the Olympics. However, she has won most of her achievements in the former category. Boora clinched the gold medal at the World Championships 2023 and is also a three-time Asian Championships medallist (including a gold medal in the 2022 Amman edition).
Both players tied the knot on July 7, 2022. However, a separation now seems imminent. This development is a big shock, as both the players are highly respected in the sports world.
Deepak Hooda’s PKL Journey
Deepak Hooda is one of the greats of the game. In the Pro Kabaddi League, he amassed a total of 1119 points, which includes 1020 raid points and 99 tackle points, in nine seasons.
The lad from Rohtak played for the Telugu Titans in the first two seasons. His performances improved after his move to the Puneri Paltan. While the team couldn’t win any titles, the all-rounder’s stats were quite good in seasons 3, 4, and 5. He scored a total of 186 points in 24 matches in season 5.
The lad from Rohtak further upped his game in season 6 with his new team, the Jaipur Pink Panthers. He had his best-ever season in the league, scoring 208 points (196 raid points and 12 tackle points). More success awaited him in the seventh season.
However, the pandemic-enforced break resulted in him having a dip in performance. After an under-par performance in the eighth edition, Deepak was released by the Pink Panthers.
Bengal Warriorz then selected the Kabaddi World Cup 2016 gold medalist in the ninth season. He had a horrendous time, scoring just 56 points (47 raid points and 9 tackle points) in 17 matches. As a result, he was released before the auctions for the tenth edition. In the PKL 10 auctions, the star failed to find any takers.
