The Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship 2026 is just around the corner. The tournament’s inaugural edition will run from October 23 to 31 at the Veer Savarkar Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The Indian men’s kabaddi team are gearing up for another challenge after winning gold at the 2026 Asian Games. They defeated Iran 40–34 in the men’s final to win their ninth Asian Games gold in kabaddi.

The Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI) released a 17-member probable players list for the practice camp ahead of the tournament. Out of these, 12 players will be shortlisted to represent India. Let’s take a look at India’s predicted squad for the Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship 2026.

Ahead of the competition, India’s men’s coaching staff was announced. J. Udaya Kumar has been appointed as the head coach of the national team, while Manjeet Chhillar and Rohit Kumar will serve as the assistant coaches.
These coaches will play a major role in the selection process as they analyse the players’ performances during the practice camp.
The team management might opt for the same combination used at the Asian Games, selecting 6 defenders, 4 raiders, and 2 all-rounders. The Indian men’s squad could look like this:
Raiders: Naveen Kumar, Sachin Tanwar, Aditya Shinde, Shivam Patare.
Defenders: Shubman Shinde, Yogesh Dahiya, Nitesh Kumar, Deepak Sankar, Parvesh Bhainswal, Surjeet Singh.
All-rounders: Neeraj Narwal, Bharat Hooda.
However, everything will depend on the coaches and selectors. They can change the players’ combination to meet the team’s needs.
Every player selected to represent the national team will do their best, as a strong performance could increase their chances of being selected again. Indian fans will expect the team to win another title and further strengthen India’s dominance in kabaddi.
