Pawan Sehrawat left out as India announce probables for Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship 2026

Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship 2026 will be held in Ahmedabad from October 21 to 31.

The Indian men’s kabaddi team are set for another challenge as they aim to win the inaugural edition of the Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship, starting on October 21 in Ahmedabad. The tournament will feature 14 Commonwealth nations competing for the trophy.

This is another significant step for kabaddi, as the tournament’s success could help shape the sport’s future at the Commonwealth Games.

The Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI) has announced a probable 17-member squad for the practice camp ahead of the tournament. However, the squad does not feature any of the 12 players who represented India at the Asian Games 2026 and won the gold medal for the nation.

This decision could be due to the sheer number of capable players available for the Indian team, who also deserve an opportunity to represent the nation, while giving much-needed rest to the existing Indian players.

On that note, here are the probable Indian players shortlisted for the practice camp for the Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship 2026.

The probable list includes some famous names who missed out on the Indian squad for the Asian Games, including Shubham Shinde, Surjeet Singh, Yogesh Dahiya and Naveen Kumar. The players selected are:

Raiders: Shivam Patare, Ajit Chouhan, Aditya Shinde, Rakesh Sungroya, Sachin Tanwar, Naveen Kumar, Pankaj Mohite.

All-rounders: Neeraj Narwal, Bharat Hooda.

Defenders: Yogesh Dahiya, Shubham Shinde, Deepak Sankar, Nitesh Kumar, Deepak Rathee, Surjeet Singh, Parvesh Malik, Ajit Pawar.

These probable players will be part of the Indian team’s practice camp for the Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship 2026. The final Indian squad will be selected from this list after reviewing their performance at the practice camp and assessing the team’s requirements.

Since the players from the team that won the gold medal at the Asian Games 2026 have been rested for this tournament, these players have the opportunity to showcase their performance and win the tournament for their country.

The team’s fans and supporters will hope they carry forward the legacy built by other Indian players in international competitions and win another trophy.

When and where will the Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship 2026 begin?

The inaugural Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship 2026 is scheduled to start on October 21, 2026, in Ahmedabad.
