The inaugural edition of the Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship 2026 will run from October 23 to 31 at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad, India. The competition will feature 13 men’s and 10 women’s nations competing for the trophy.
The Indian kabaddi teams are clear favourites in both the men’s and women’s events. They recently won gold in both events at the Asian Games 2026 after unbeaten runs, showcasing their dominance in the sport.
However, both squads have changed, with other players given opportunities to showcase their talents while key players from the gold-winning teams are resting. Experienced defender Surjeet Singh will lead the Indian men’s kabaddi team, while Nidhi Sharma will captain the Indian women’s team.
