The Indian men’s kabaddi team are on a winning streak going into their semi-final clash against Thailand on 25th September at the Asian Games 2026 in Japan. Thailand will play Iran in the other semi-final.

India are the only unbeaten nation in Group A, having won all four of their games. They made a strong start with a 49-24 win over Japan and then handed South Korea a crushing 63-31 defeat.

Subsequently, they defeated Bangladesh 48–25 and concluded their league-stage campaign with a 37–21 victory over Chinese Taipei.

Meanwhile, Thailand have also had an impressive run, winning their first three encounters against Nepal, Malaysia, and Pakistan.

However, in the final league match, the strong Iranian team handed them a crushing 83-27 defeat. It is the highest number of points conceded in a single game by any country in this year’s iteration of the Asian Games.

This is the first time Thailand have reached the knockout stage in this tournament since making their debut in 1998. The team will have to work on the mistakes Iran exposed as they take on tournament favourites India in the semi-final 1.
