Asian Games 2026 Men's Kabaddi Points Table: India placed second after Day 1
Bangladesh and Pakistan topped their respective groups after Day 1 of the kabaddi event.
Day 1 of the kabaddi event at the Asian Games 2026 has ended. It was filled with several entertaining and thrilling moments.
The day started with a closely fought contest between Bangladesh and the Republic of Korea. Despite the presence of Jang Kun Lee and other experienced players, the Korean team failed to secure a victory and lost to Bangladesh 39-35.
Later, in the second match, Thailand registered a win to kick-start their campaign, defeating Nepal by 59-48 and shocking everyone. The Indian men’s kabaddi team played the third match of the day and recorded an easy 49-24 victory against hosts Japan.
During the evening session, Pakistan defeated Malaysia 65-22. Subsequently, Bangladesh stunned fans by defeating Chinese Taipei by just one point (48-47).

Group A Points Table
Group A consists of five teams, and all teams played at least one game on Day 1. The Bangladesh kabaddi team played two matches and won both. They currently remain firmly at the top of the points table. They defeated the Republic of Korea and Chinese Taipei in back-to-back close-fought battles.
India are in second place after winning their opening match. They defeated Japan 49-24 and kick-started their gold medal defence in style.
Chinese Taipei are in third place without a win. They lost against Bangladesh by a single point. The Republic of Korea follow them in fourth place, also without a win. Japan are in fifth place, also without a single win.
Group B Points Table
Group B also consists of five teams, and four of them played at least one match on Day 1. Pakistan topped the points table after an easy win over Malaysia. Thailand are in second place after defeating Nepal.
Iran are in third place, having played no matches on Day 1. Nepal and Malaysia are placed in fourth and fifth place; both have played one match each, and neither has secured a victory.
