The top six teams in the table will qualify for the PKL 11 playoffs.

We are already ten days into the third and final leg (in Pune) of the Pro Kabaddi 2024 (PKL 11), and the race for the playoffs spot continues to heat up. Interestingly, some star-studded outfits have failed to impress, while some teams have punched above their weight.

The top two teams at the end of the league stage will be directly qualifying for the semi-finals. The teams placed third and sixth on the table, and the teams placed fourth and fifth will take on each other in the two eliminators. The winners from the eliminators will be the other two semi-finalists.

The playoffs are set to take place at the Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune, with the eliminators on 26th December, the semifinals on 27th December, and the final on 29th December. With just two weeks to go before the conclusion of the PKL 11 league stage, let’s look at the playoffs qualification scenarios of all twelve teams.

1. Haryana Steelers – Qualified

Not many would have predicted this at the beginning of the season, but Haryana Steelers are the first team to have qualified for the PKL 11 playoffs. They are sitting pretty at the top of the table. Their score difference is +98, the best in the league.

2. Dabang Delhi – Qualified

Dabang Delhi had a slow start, with star raider Naveen Kumar sitting out of seven matches due to an injury. However, like last season, Ashu Malik has handled the pressure well.

Now, with the two raiders teaming up to wreak havoc and with an in-form defence, the season eight champions are enjoying a 13-match unbeaten streak. This is why Dabang Delhi became the second team to qualify for the PKL 11 playoffs.

3. Patna Pirates – Qualified

Patna Pirates became the third team to qualify for the PKL 11 playoffs with a win over Telugu Titans in match 120. Patna defeated Titans 41-37 in a close encounter and have qualified for the playoffs with 13 wins and 73 points in 20 matches. Patna are currently in second place in the points table and now they have only two matches left in the league stage.

4. UP Yoddhas – Qualified

The complete team performance helped Patna Pirates emerge victorious with a scoreline of 41-37, confirming their playoff spot. With that result, the UP Yoddhas have also qualified for the playoffs, leaving only two playoff spots open in the tournament.

5. Jaipur Pink Panthers – Qualified

Jaipur Pink Panthers fought hard and finally confirmed their place in the playoffs by defeating Bengal Warriorz in the 123rd match of Pro Kabaddi 2024 (PKL 11). Jaipur became the fifth team to go to the playoffs this season. At the same time, they qualified for the playoffs for the third consecutive season.

6. U Mumba – Qualified

U Mumba have formally secured the playoffs ticket by defeating Bengal Warriorz by a margin of 36-27 in the 132nd and final league match of Pro Kabaddi League Season 11 played on Tuesday. Mumba have made it to the playoffs after three seasons. On the other hand, Bengal team returned home with defeat.

7. Telugu Titans – Eliminated

Due to the victory of U Mumba in the last league match of PKL 11, Telugu Titans were out of the race for the playoffs. Telugu Titans won 12 matches in 22 matches and finished seventh with 66 points. Telugu Titans had a great chance to reach the top 6 but they suffered a big setback due to only 2 wins in the last 5 matches.

8. Puneri Paltan – Eliminated

Defending champions Puneri Paltan become the fifth team to be eliminated from the playoffs race. They got this big blow after Jaipur defeated Bengal. Puneri have won only 8 matches so far this season and are at eighth place with 55 points.

9. Tamil Thalaivas – Eliminated

Tamil Thalaivas become the third team to be eliminated from the playoffs race. They bought Sachin Tanwar at the highest price during the auction. Sachin was included in the team by Thalaivas for Rs 2.15 crore, making him the most expensive player of this season. Despite this, this season was quite embarrassing for the team.

Tamil started the season well, but poor form of Sachin Tanwar and Narender Kandola created problems for them. Tamil have won only six out of the 19 matches played so far. They have lost 12 matches and played one tie.

10. Bengal Warriorz – Eliminated

Bengal Warriorz have arguably been the disappointment of the season. Despite the presence of legends like Fazel Atrachali, Maninder Singh, and Nitesh Kumar, the team has failed to impress. More often than not, individuals have failed to take responsibility in crunch situations. To make matters worse, their lone bright spot, Nitin Dhankar has been ruled out due to an injury.

11. Gujarat Giants – Eliminated

Gujarat Giants‘ become the second team to be eliminated from the playoffs race. Their performances this season have been far from ideal, with 5 wins, 12 losses, and 2 draws in 19 matches. Their current tally of 34 points and poor points differential of -98 is the reason for their exit.

12. Bengaluru Bulls- Eliminated

Bengaluru Bulls are the first and only team now to be officially out of contention for a place in the playoffs. Pardeep Narwal is no longer the raider of the yesteryears, while Ajinkya Pawar failed to justify his price tag.

Nitin Rawal, placed second in the list of most tackle points, has been the lone bright spot in a shaky defensive line-up. Coach Randhir Sehrawat too has made a few bizarre decisions at crucial junctures, failing to back youngsters like Akshit. He would now want to set his eyes on PKL 12 and look to build a core for the next season.
