PKL 12: Top five best moments from Day 1 matches

Tamil Thalaivas and Puneri Paltan start their PKL 12 campaign with a win.

The Pro Kabaddi League 12 (PKL 12) started with exciting matches. In the first match, Tamil Thalaivas put up a strong and entertaining performance against their arch-rivals, Telugu Titans, and secured a win.

On the other hand, the second game ticked all the boxes in terms of drama and entertainment. The game was always neck to neck, with both teams fighting back to secure points before reaching the first tie-breaker of PKL 12.

Many moments in both matches had fans glued to their seats. On that note, let’s take a look at the top five moments from Day 1 of PKL 12:

5. Arjun Deshwal’s brilliance

Just another day on the mat for the ‘Raid Machine’ Arjun Deshwal, but with a different team this time. He played brilliantly throughout the match, especially in the first half when Pawan was struggling due to poor form.

He managed to register another Super 10, scoring a total of 12 raid points and helping Tamil Thalaivas to win the opening showdown.

4. Pawan Sehrawat’s comeback

The ‘Hi-Flyer’ Pawan Sehrawat was off to a bad start with no raid points in the first half of the game. But he picked up momentum in the second half and never looked back.

He scored 9 raid points in the second half of the game, including a super raid towards the end, ensuring victory for his team.

3. Akash Shinde’s Super 10

Akash had a big responsibility on his shoulders, leading a young raiding lineup, and he did it perfectly today with an example.

He scored 12 raid points against his former team, Puneri Paltan, including his 2-pointer in the last moments to script a comeback for Bengaluru Bulls. Sadly, they lost in the tie-breaker, but his efforts were worth noticing.

2. Aditya Shinde announces himself

In the pre-season interview, Aslam Inamdar stated that one player will be seen completely changed and in a new avatar, and his name is Aditya Shinde. In the first match itself, Aditya lived up to the big expectations of his captain, scoring 9 raid points, the most from his team, and helping them secure the win.

1. The thrilling Tie-Breaker

According to the new rules of PKL, there will be no matches ending in a tie. Every game must have a clear winner. So, if there is a tie, there will be a tie-breaker, and we got to witness it on the first day itself in the second match between Bengaluru Bulls and Puneri Paltan.

Both teams started safely in the tie-breaker until Ankush tackled Sachin by locking onto his thigh. Things were looking pretty well for the Bulls, but then Paltan made 2 back-to-back tackles and stole the match from the Bulls’ hands.

Who won the opening day matches of PKL 12?
