PKL 12: Devank Dalal sends message to Haryana Steelers ahead of their clash: Exclusive

Devank Dalal’s Bengal Warriorz will play their first match of PKL 12 against Haryana Steelers on August 31.

Pro Kabaddi League 12 (PKL 12) will commence on August 29, 2025. Bengal Warriorz will play their first match on August 31, 2025, against the defending champions, Haryana Steelers.

In the PKL 12 auction, Bengal Warriorz have roped in some young talents into their squad, which includes the most successful raider of PKL 11, Devank Dalal.

Devank Dalal was part of the runners-up, Patna Pirates, in the previous season. Dalal surprised everyone with his consistent power-packed performances and clinched 301 raid points in 25 matches, including 18 Super 10s.

As a result, he came into the limelight in the Pro Kabaddi League 12 auction and was bought by Bengal for Rs 2.205 crore. After a tiring training session, Dalal spared a little time and talked with Khel Now. Here’s what he said:

While talking about the training camps, Devank Dalal said, “The camp is going well, and the combinations are setting up quite nicely. Coach Sir is giving us good training, and the team is becoming better.”

Any new skills added to your skill set?

Sports are all about growing over time and learning new skills to become better. Every successful player changes their skills to stay at the top of their game. While speaking about the way he is going to tackle the new challenges coming his way, Dalal said –

“Yes, of course. Like other teams will find out my weak point and try to exploit it. I will do the same and look for their weak points before entering the court. My thought is to stay alert to their strengths but keep my focus on my skills.”

Did you expect such a big price in the auction?

After a stellar season, Devank Dalal was bought by the Warriorz for a massive price in the season 12 auction. Was Devank Dalal expecting a big price before going into the auction? The raider expressed his emotions and said, “Well, I did, but I did not expect it to go to this extent. It is hard to describe how I felt in that moment; I just felt happy with the way things went.”

Do you feel the pressure of the big price tag?

We have seen many times that when a player is sold at a huge price, his performance declines due to the pressure of the price tag.

However, Devank Dalal denied this. Dalal said, “No, not at all. There is no pressure, and no one has given me such a feeling. In fact, I am motivated because it has helped me financially immensely. My financial condition improves after the auction, and I feel everything is going better for me now. So, I feel it has just given me more confidence, and not the other way around.”

What’s your focus against the Haryana Steelers?

The last time I played for Patna Pirates, Haryana Steelers won, and now my first match in this season is against them. The thing is, their team has changed, so has ours. So we will see who plays better and wins this time. Only time will tell.
