PKL 12 schedule undergoes major change; Delhi leg to begin earlier

Vizag to host the opening match of PKL 12.
The 12th edition of the Pro Kabaddi League will commence on Friday, August 29, with Tamil Thalaivas taking on Telugu Titans in the first match of the season. PKL 12 group stage will be held across four cities: Vizag, Jaipur, Chennai, and Delhi.
Ahead of the PKL 12, the schedule undergoes a major change. The Chennai leg will now operate from September 29 to October 10, 2025. On the other hand, the Delhi leg will now begin on October 11, 2025, representing an earlier start date for the Delhi matches.

This change ensures continuous tournament action while accommodating the revised Chennai schedule. The following matches, originally scheduled for October 11 and 12 in Chennai, have now been relocated to Delhi.
Big matches shifted from Chennai to Delhi
On October 11, the matches shifted from Chennai to Delhi, are Bengaluru Bulls vs Jaipur Pink Panthers, and Tamil Thalaivas vs Puneri Paltan. On October 12, the relocated matches include Dabang Delhi vs Puneri Paltan and Bengal Warriorz vs Bengaluru Bulls.
All other match dates, orders, and team alignments remain unchanged. The overall tournament schedule and structure will continue as planned, with only the venue changed for the matches scheduled on 11 and 12 October.

New Play-Ins rule introduce in PKL 12
This season will also introduce a new playoff structure along with the Play-Ins. For the first time, the top 8 teams from the league stage will get a chance to qualify for the playoffs, opening up opportunities for more franchises to compete for the trophy.
At the same time, the Play-ins ensure that every league-stage position carries greater weight, making each match more crucial than ever.
New Tie-Breaking Rule Explained-
PKL 12 introduces a comprehensive tie-breaker rule system, including the Golden Raid format, to all league-stage matches. Previously limited only to Playoff matches, this system now ensures decisive outcomes throughout the tournament.
In case of ties, teams will engage in a structured 5-raid shootout with special rules as follows:
- Both teams field 7 players with the baulk line treated as baulk line cum bonus line
- Each team nominates 5 different raiders who raid alternately
- Out and revival rules don’t apply – only points scored count
- If still tied after 5 raids, the Golden Raid rule applies
