PKL 12: Pardeep Narwal reveals the name who taught him 'Dubki' move

The ‘Dubki King’ Pardeep Narwal will open his new Kabaddi academy on September 1.
The most shocking name that went unsold at the PKL 12 auction was that of Pardeep Narwal, the record breaker and ‘Dubki King’. Pardeep Narwal announced his retirement just one day after he was unsold at the Season 12 Auction, leaving fans across the country heartbroken.
Pardeep was the best player of the Pro Kabaddi League, scoring a record 1801 points in the league’s history. He has several records to his name. After his retirement, Pradeep came to watch the opening match of the PKL 12.
He spoke to the media ahead of the opening night showdown. He shared his thoughts on the game and his plans. He further added that he is here only for the fans and expressed his gratitude to the fans for giving him so much love and support.

When asked about his favourite moment, he said, “There are so many memorable moments, but it’s hard to choose one. Winning three titles, scoring 8 points in a single raid, 369 raid points in a season, and many more.” It’s difficult to choose, as Kabaddi has given me a lifetime of memories.”
Importance of friendships in one’s journey
Pardeep stresses the importance of friendship in a player’s career. He spoke about his close bonds with fellow players such as Maninder Singh and Mohit Chhillar.

Significance of the Pro Kabaddi League in shaping Kabaddi
When asked about the importance of PKL, Pardeep said, “Pro Kabaddi has taken Kabaddi to new heights. It has given fame to many players. It has given us everything. I’m grateful for the opportunity to play and become famous through the Pro Kabaddi League.”
A New Chapter after retirement
When asked about his future plans, Pardeep replied, “I am opening my own Kabaddi academy in Ladwa village on September 1st. The academy will start with 65-70 children, and we will expand it in the future. I want to guide the next generation of Kabaddi players and help them build a career in the sport.”
He further added that, “He will teach the new kids the ‘Dubki’ technique and in the future we will see many Pardeep Narwal coming from my academy.”

“I didn’t feel bad. I also accepted that it was time to move on. Yes, there’s a feeling that I could have played a little more, especially for the fans. Even today, I am here for the fans only.”
Pardeep Narwal on who taught him Dubki
“While no one specifically taught me the Dubki, my coach from my village, Naresh Narwal, played a big role in my development as a player. He was there from the start. I also felt that it came to me naturally as well.”
How PKL has evolved
Pardeep, who has been part of the Pro Kabaddi League since Season 2, has said that “PKL has been a great platform for us and has given us the fame and money.”
He further added, “Every season brings new changes. New players join, some become coaches, and the sport continues to evolve. We have seen a lot of changes, and it’s exciting to see the new talent coming in.”

When asked about the most promising young player, Pardeep said, “There are a lot of young talents coming up, especially Devank and Ayan, who have impressed me a lot. Both are doing exceptionally well. They have a bright future ahead.”
Toughest defenders Pardeep has faced in his career
“There were many defenders who were good on the mat, but Manjeet Chhillar and Fazel Atrachali were definitely among the toughest defenders that I have faced.”
Why is Pardeep Narwal not playing in PKL 12?
Pardeep will not be a part of PKL 2025 after going unsold in the auction. He went through the auction with a base price of Rs 20 lakh, but did not find any buyer.
