PKL 12: Players Patna Pirates might release ahead of upcoming Pro Kabaddi season

Patna Pirates missed out on winning the PKL 11 trophy by a narrow margin.

Patna Pirates played a magnificent season last year. They defeated some mammoth sides to reach the final of the PKL 11. However, they eventually lost to Haryana Steelers and failed to win their fourth PKL title. Despite their loss in the final, they must be proud of what they achieved with such a young side.

Patna Pirates had one of the most successful raiding departments in the season, with almost no experienced raiders on their squad. Devank Dalal and Ayan Lohchab took all the responsibilities on their shoulders and pulled off a memorable season.

Although the in-form players dominated the mat and led the team to a runners-up finish. However, they would like to improve their shortcomings ahead of the upcoming season.

The Pirates’ think tank and talent hunt team are already at work. However, before adding new players to the Pirates family, they would have to let go of a few of them into the auction pool. On that note, let’s take a look at the players Patna Pirates might release ahead of PKL 12.

Gaps to fill in

Ayan Lohchab and Devank Dalal had a great season 11. Similarly, Ankit Jaglan, Deepak Singh, and Shubham Shinde were nothing less than brilliant in the defence department. It was almost entirely the contribution of these 5 players that made them finalists last season.

Some big names might get released

Jang Kun Lee is one of the most celebrated overseas players in Pro Kabaddi League history. However, he wasn’t given any notable opportunities last season. Lee’s exclusion might indicate that he will certainly be released.

Apart from him, Sandeep Kumar and Sudhakar M are two other raiders who did not perform well last time. On the other hand, if we look at the defenders, Gurdeep, Navdeep, and Thiyagarajan Yuvaraj failed to capitalise on their given opportunities and might be released into the auction pool as well.

Patna Pirates’ management would be looking to improve on the previous season and get their hands on the PKL trophy for the fourth time in the upcoming season. Although they had a fabulous season 11, there were a few possibilities for improvement that they must take into account while going out for the PKL 12 auction.
