PKL 12: Big boost for Tamil Thalaivas as star defender joins squad ahead of Chennai Leg

Tamil Thalaivas have had a poor run so far in PKL 12.
Tamil Thalaivas are placed ninth in the Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 (PKL 12) points table with six points from eight encounters, including three wins and five losses. They have a score difference of -26 thus far in the ongoing edition of the Pro Kabaddi League.
The Thalaivas won their season opener against the Telugu Titans by a 38-35 margin, but suffered defeats in their next outings during the Vizag leg. They lost to U Mumba by a narrow margin of 36-33 and then faced defeat against Gujarat Giants, with the final score being 37-28.
The Chennai-based franchise began the Jaipur leg with a convincing 46-36 victory over the Bengal Warriorz, and defeated the Bengaluru Bulls with a 35-29 margin. Despite a bright start to the second leg, the Thalaivas have slumped to three consecutive defeats.
Tamil Thalaivas suffered a humiliating 43-29 loss to the Telugu Titans in the reverse leg, having defeated the Titans at their home in the opening match of PKL Season 12. They suffered a narrow two-point loss (38-36) against Haryana Steelers and lost to UP Yoddhas with a 39-22 margin.
Two-time PKL champions Jaipur Pink Panthers will face the Thalaivas in their final match of the Jaipur leg on Saturday, September 27, at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium in Jaipur.
The caravan then moves to Chennai. Hosts Tamil Thalaivas will play the first match of their Chennai leg against U Mumba on Wednesday, October 1. Ahead of the Chennai Leg, Thalaivas get a big relief as their star defender joins the squad after recovering from an injury.
Sagar Rathee joins Tamil Thalaivas squad ahead of Chennai Leg
Tamil Thalaivas star defender Sagar Rathee has joined the team ahead of the Chennai Leg. The Indian defender has missed seven matches so far this season, owing to an injury. He missed the first couple of games, but played the third match against Gujarat Giants and picked up a tackle point.
However, Sagar was not fully fit for the match, and the franchise decided to rest the player until he was fully fit. He will be available for Tamil Thalaivas’ next game when they take on the Jaipur Pink Panthers on Saturday.
