PKL 12: Sunil Kumar speaks on his relationship with coach Manpreet Singh

U Mumba have won three matches so far in PKL 12.

U Mumba squared off against the Bengaluru Bulls in Match 15 of the Pro Kabaddi League 12 (PKL 12) at the Vishwanadh Sports Club in Vizag, on Friday, September 5.

The PKL Season 2 champions defeated the Bulls with the final score reading 48-28. Raider Ajit Chouhan was the standout performer with 13 points, including 12 touch points and one bonus point. U Mumba were forced to sub off the player in the 27th minute due to an injury.

U Mumba moved to second spot in the PKL 12 points table with six points in four matches. So far, they have won three games and lost one. They are behind Puneri Paltan, who have a better score difference of 31, compared to Mumba’s 23.

After the match, U Mumba captain Sunil Kumar praised Haryana Steelers head coach Manpreet Singh and spoke about his relationship with him.

Thoughts on the team’s performance

Skipper Sunil Kumar was in all praise for his players and appreciated them for the way they played. He said, “This was our team’s fourth match. If we look at the last three games, the Raiders have done their job for us. But today it was a combination of both defense and attack.

“If the defense continues to play like this, then it is possible that the outcome of the upcoming matches may be positive. I am happy, but I also made two or three mistakes today. I had a chance to catch a couple of raiders, but I couldn’t. So I am a little unhappy with my performance. Lokesh, Parvesh, Rinku, and even Ravi Bhati played very well,” he added.

Relationship with Manpreet Singh

Sunil Kumar addressed his bond with Manpreet Singh and said, “In the fifth season, coach sahab included me in his team in Gujarat, and he allowed me to play in PKL for the first time. He allowed me to become the captain for the first time in the sixth season, and today I am the most successful captain in PKL.”

“I have learnt many things about Kabaddi from him. Whatever Coach Sahab has taught me, I work on them, and I also think about doing this now. Thank you to Coach Sahab, because of him, I am a successful captain today. I will always have respect for him in my heart,” he added.
