PKL 12: Pawan Sehrawat to lead Tamil Thalaivas; Arjun Deshwal named vice-captain

The 12th edition of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL 12) is all set to commence on Friday, August 29, at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Vizag.
Ahead of the commencement of the season, Tamil Thalaivas have named Pawan Sehrawat as their captain for the upcoming season. Meanwhile, the franchise has announced that former Jaipur Pink Panthers skipper Arjun Deshwal will serve as Pawan’s deputy for PKL 12.
Speaking about the leadership duo, head coach Sanjeev Balyan said, “Pawan is a proven leader and one of the most feared players in the league. His ability to handle pressure, inspire his teammates, and deliver in crucial moments makes him the ideal captain to lead Tamil Thalaivas this season.”

“I’ve had the privilege of working with Arjun when he captained Jaipur Pink Panthers, and I know firsthand the dedication, discipline, and composure he brings to the game. He is a natural leader on and off the mat, and together with Pawan, they form a formidable leadership core,” the coach added.
Pawan Sehrawat began his captaincy journey with the Bengaluru Bulls in PKL Season 7. He led the franchise for a couple of seasons before moving to Tamil Thalaivas, where he played only one match.
The Indian raider was the captain of the Telugu Titans for the last two PKL seasons. He captained the Titans throughout PKL Season 10 and for half a season in the previous edition of the league. As a player, Pawan earned 134 points in 13 matches in the 11th edition of the Pro Kabaddi League.
Meanwhile, Arjun Deshwal served as Jaipur Pink Panthers‘ captain last year and guided the team to 12 wins, nine losses, and a couple of ties in 23 encounters. On the mat, the Indian raider bagged 230 points, including 227 raid points and three tackle points.
Tamil Thalaivas to face Telugu Titans on the opening day of PKL 12
Tamil Thalaivas will face the hosts, Telugu Titans, on the opening day of PKL 12. The league stage of Pro Kabaddi Season 12 will be held in four cities: Vizag, Jaipur, Chennai, and Delhi.
Tamil Thalaivas finished ninth last season with 50 points in 22 matches, having won eight, lost 13, and tied one. With the addition of several new players to the squad, the Chennai-based franchise will aim to finish in the top six in the upcoming season.
