Pawan Sehrawat ready to quit Kabaddi if Tamil Thalaivas can prove disciplinary allegations

Tamil Thalaivas released Pawan Sehrawat mid-season after naming him their captain.
Tamil Thalaivas have shocked Pro Kabaddi League fans by releasing their captain and star raider, Pawan Sehrawat, mid-season. The Chennai-based franchise announced on social media that they were parting ways with the “Hi-Flyer” owing to disciplinary reasons.
This sudden development has created a storm in the kabaddi world. Pawan Sehrawat, who rejoined the franchise for PKL Season 12 after a record ₹59.50 lakh bid, did not take long to respond. The Indian captain released an Instagram video, strongly rejecting the allegations and stating that he is ready to quit kabaddi altogether if the team can prove him wrong.
Fans were left divided after the news broke. Many expected Sehrawat to lead Tamil Thalaivas to new heights, but the saga has taken an unexpected turn. With PKL 12 entering its second leg, the spotlight has shifted completely to this controversy.

Pawan Sehrawat opens up in emotional video

In his statement, Sehrawat thanked fans for their support. He recalled his previous stint with Tamil Thalaivas in Season 9, when he suffered a knee injury but received full backing from the franchise during recovery.
“Namashkar to everyone. I received tons of calls and messages since yesterday’s post. I thank you all for the messages and love. I was part of the same franchise in Season 9 as well. I suffered an injury back then and underwent surgery. The owner of Tamil Thalaivas supported me throughout the journey of my surgery to getting back into the Indian team,” Sehrawat said.
He also acknowledged the support of coach Sanjeev Balyan and teammate Arjun Deshwal. “Coach Sanjeev was also with me back then. He supported me through the camps and matches, with a lot of care and love. Arjun [Deshwal] is like my younger brother, and we made many plans to take this team to new heights.”
However, Sehrawat revealed that his plans were derailed. “Because of a particular member of the management, Arjun and I couldn’t execute our plan. And now, the team has put allegations of indisciplinary actions on me. I want to say that I have been a part of the Indian national team, and I know the meaning of discipline. If I am found indisciplined, even by 1%, I give you my word I will never play kabaddi again.”
Tamil Thalaivas stand by their decision
The Tamil Thalaivas maintained their position, issuing a strong statement confirming the dismissal of their captain.
“Pawan Sehrawat has been sent home and will not be a part of the squad for the remainder of the season owing to disciplinary reasons. This decision has been made after due consideration and in alignment with the team’s code of conduct,” the stament read.
This was a major setback for the franchise, which had placed huge expectations on Sehrawat. In his three matches this season, the raider scored 22 raid points, including 19 touch points and three bonus points, though he had yet to hit his peak form.
Impact on Tamil Thalaivas’ PKL 12 campaign
Without Sehrawat, Tamil Thalaivas face a tough challenge in PKL 12. They currently sit sixth on the points table, with two wins and two losses from four games. The team’s recent victory over Bengal Warriorz gave them some momentum, but the road ahead looks uncertain.
The absence of their captain means Arjun Deshwal and the younger players will carry the burden of leading raids. With matches against Bengaluru Bulls, Telugu Titans, and defending champions Jaipur Pink Panthers coming up, Thalaivas’ depth and resilience will be put to the test.
Sehrawat’s message to fans and Thalaivas
Despite the controversy, Sehrawat ended his video on a positive note. “I stay still on my ground as I say this. I am sure I am correct in every way, and I haven’t done anything wrong. I appeal to you to keep your love and prayers showering on me and keep supporting me.”
He also wished his former side the best.
“My message for Tamil Thalaivas is that I wish they play well and get the team to success. All the best to the team.”
In their latest encounter, they defeated Bengal Warriorz by 10 points, with the final score reading 46-36, helping the club jump four spots in the standings.
The Chennai-based franchise is all set to take on the Bengaluru Bulls in their upcoming match of PKL 12 on Tuesday, September 16. The clash will take place at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium in Jaipur.
