PKL 12: Which team has the lowest purse value for auction?

The Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) season is nearing, and the fans’ excitement is unmatchable. Every announcement from the franchises sparks a new point of discussion among the fans.

With the auction being a couple of days away, the enthusiasts are thrilled to witness how each franchise shapes itself for the upcoming mega season. Notably, the power to go strongly in the auction depends on the remaining money of the teams in their purse.

The PKL has evolved massively throughout the years. From starting as a small league of one of the oldest sports in the world, it has grown to become one of the top 3 sporting leagues in the country.

One can imagine the growth just by looking at this stat. In the first season, the most expensive player was sold for 12.80 lacs, whereas in PKL 11, it was 2.15 crores. In 2025, the purse limit of each franchise is once again going to be 5 crores.

The amount will be deducted according to the number of retentions the teams have made. In the auction, the teams will come out with their remaining purse value to buy players from the auction pool.

A few teams have released most of their previous players and will be making almost a fresh start with a massive value in their purses. Whereas some teams have retained their core strength, choosing to stay with their previous group of players and will have less remaining amount in their purse ahead of PKL 12 auction.

UP Yoddhas have the lowest remaining purse value in PKL 12 auction

UP Yoddhas had a pretty good previous season. Although they were knocked out in the playoffs, they showed tremendous performances throughout the PKL 11 season, especially towards the end. Hence, the management has decided to retain its core strength and is left with the lowest remaining purse value of 1.86 crores.

They have retained 12 players from their previous squad, including 5 ERPs (Sumit, Bhavani Rajput, Sahul Kumar, Surender Gill, Ashu Singh), 3 RYPs (Hitesh, Gagan Gowda, Shivam Chaudhary) and 4 ENYPs (Jayesh Mahajan, Gangaram, Sachin, Keshav Kumar).

UP Yoddhas have shown immense belief in their team and have kept their core intact. However, it will be interesting how they pursue their auction tactics when all the other teams come in with heavy purses.

Most of the teams have more than 3 crores left in their purses. Dabang Delhi will be going in with the whopping 4.56 crores in their purse, which will also be the highest for any team in this PKL 12 auction.

With many big players being released into the pool, this PKL auction is going to be one of the most thrilling ones in a while. The teams will have to come out with utmost brilliance in their tactics to form a strong, balanced team with the best combinations from so many available options. It will be interesting to see how things unfold on May 31 and June 1.
