PKL 12: Injury scare for U Mumba as Ajit Chouhan limps off the mat against Bengaluru Bulls

U Mumba squared off against the Bengaluru Bulls in Match 15 of the Pro Kabaddi League 12 (PKL 12) at the Vishwanadh Sports Club in Vizag, on Friday, September 5.
The PKL Season 2 champions defeated the Bulls with the final score reading 48-28. Raider Ajit Chouhan was the standout performer with 13 points, including 12 touch points and one bonus point. U Mumba were forced to sub off the player in the 27th minute due to an injury.
Speaking of Ajit’s performance, he did 13 raids in the match, including nine successful raids. The Indian raider returned with two empty and as many unsuccessful raids. He also registered a six-point Super Raid, becoming only the fourth player in PKL history to achieve this feat.
Yogesh, Aashish Malik, Dheeraj, Satyappa Matti, Akash Shinde, and Deepak Sankar were out, courtesy of Ajit’s super raid. In his next raid, he got the Iranian all-rounder Alireza Mirzaian out. He inflicted an All Out on the Bengaluru Bulls, adding two extra points to the Mumbai-based franchise’s tally.
U Mumba won the match, but their star boy Ajit Chouhan suffered an injury, and after that, he spent the remainder of the game on the bench.

How did Ajit Chouhan get injured?
Ajit Chouhan got injured during a raid in the second half of the fixture against the Bengaluru Bulls. The Maharashtra player limped off the match after injuring his left ankle when the Bulls’ defender, Yogesh, tried to grapple his legs in an attempt to tackle the player. He received treatment for his left ankle after limping off.
As of now, it’s unclear how serious the injury is, and if Ajit will be fit for U Mumba’s next encounter against the Telugu Titans on Wednesday, September 10. U Mumba fans will be hoping for his speedy recovery, as his presence is crucial to their campaign.
After this win, U Mumba moved to second spot in the PKL 12 points table with six points in four matches, of which they won three and lost one. They are behind Puneri Paltan, who have a better score difference of 31, compared to Mumba’s 23.
On the other hand, Bengaluru Bulls have slipped to the bottom of the standings with zero points and a score difference of -27, having lost all matches they’ve played thus far in the 12th edition of the Pro Kabaddi League.
