PKL 12: Why did Ankush Rathee miss the clash against Patna Pirates?

Bengaluru Bulls are taking on Patna Pirates in Match 17 of the Pro Kabaddi League 12 (PKL 12) at the Vishwanadh Sports Club in Vizag on Saturday, September 7.

The Bulls are among the three teams that are yet to win a match in PKL 12. Both Patna Pirates and Gujarat Giants have lost two games, while the Bengaluru-based franchise is at the bottom of the standings with three losses.

Bengaluru Bulls began their campaign with a close-fought loss against Puneri Paltan. They lost to the PKL Season 10 champions 4-6 in a tie-breaker after the regular time score read 32-32.

In their second encounter, they suffered a 41-34 loss against former PKL champions Dabang Delhi and followed it up with a humiliating 48-28 defeat against U Mumba in their third match last night.

Why is Ankush Rathee not playing against Patna Pirates?

Ankush Rathee is not playing today’s match for the Bengaluru Bulls against Patna Pirates. He was also dropped during the franchise’s previous encounter against U Mumba.

The reason behind Ankush’s absence is unknown. However, according to details emerging, the defender has unfollowed his franchise, the Bengaluru Bulls, on Instagram. He has also taken down all posts related to the Bulls from his profile.

There has possibly been a disagreement between the player and the team management, resulting in the player being dropped from the team by the franchise.

The Bangalore-based franchise roped in the services of Ankush Rathee for his base price of INR 30 lakhs at the PKL 12 player auction. He was also appointed as the captain for the 12th edition of the Pro Kabaddi League.

Akash Shinde led the Bulls in the previous match, while Yogesh is leading the club against the Pirates today.

How has Ankush Rathee fared in PKL 12?

Ankush Rathee has earned five points in two matches so far in Season 12. He bagged five tackle points in seven games in the franchise’s season opener against Puneri Paltan. The Indian defender failed to earn points against Dabang Delhi in the 26 minutes that he played.
