PKL 12: Why did Yogesh Dahiya & Akash Shinde miss Eliminator 2 clash against Patna Pirates?

Yogesh Dahiya & Akash Shinde are not part of the team in the do-or-die encounter.

Bengaluru Bulls are taking on Patna Pirates in Eliminator 2 of the Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 (PKL 12) at the Thyagaraj Indoor Stadium in Delhi on Monday, October 27. The winner of this match will advance to Eliminator 3, while the loser will be eliminated from the tournament.

Patna Pirates head into this clash on the back of two consecutive victories in the PKL 12 Playoffs. They defeated U Mumba 40-31 in Play-in 2 and registered a convincing 48-32 win over the Jaipur Pink Panthers in Eliminator 1.

On the other hand, Bengaluru Bulls suffered a 37-32 loss against the Telugu Titans in the mini-qualifier on Sunday.

With an important clash lined up, the Bulls are without the services of their raider, Akash Shinde, and captain, Yogesh Dahiya. That said, let’s take a look at why both players are missing from today’s starting 7.

Why are Yogesh Dahiya and Akash Shinde not playing tonight?

Bengaluru Bulls captain Yogesh Dahiya was subbed off at the start of the previous game against the Telugu Titans due to an injury. He had suffered the injury before the game, as confirmed by the franchise via a social media post.

“Captain Yogesh Dahiya picked up an injury just before the Mini Qualifier and had to be subbed outWe’ve learned it’s not serious, and we’re hopeful for a speedy recovery so he can feature in the important clash against Patna Pirates,” the statement read.

The Indian defender has earned 51 tackle points from 19 matches this season and was a vital cog as a leader and player for the Bengaluru-based franchise.

Bengaluru Bulls coach BC Ramesh said that Yogesh had not informed him earlier about the injury. He told him at the last moment, before the game, during the warm-up, that he couldn’t play.

On the other hand, Akash Shinde is not included in the starting 7 for the Eliminator 2 clash. However, the reason behind his absence is unclear. He might have been excluded from the game, either due to an injury or a string of poor performances.

Akash Shinde has earned 68 points (62 raid points and six tackle points) from 15 matches thus far in the ongoing edition of the Pro Kabaddi League. He has one Super Raid, two Super 10s, and as many Super Tackles to his name this season.
