For the first time in the league's history a player was sold for more than ₹)2 crores.

The Pro Kabaddi League Season 9 auction witnessed some serious bidding from the franchises. Some prominent names went for a whopping amount. The auction took place over two days, where category A and B players went under the hammer on Day 1. Meanwhile, category C and D were auctioned on Day 2.

PKL 9 auction saw a jump into the ₹)1 crore club for four players in this auction. Today, let's take a look at the top five most expensive buys in the PKL 9 auction:

5. Pardeep Narwal (Rs90 lakhs to UP Yoddhas)

The 'Boss of Kabaddi', Pardeep Narwal was also one of the top picks in the auction. Narwal found a bid of ₹90 lakhs from Gujarat Giants, but UP Yoddhas used their Final Bid Match (FBM) to retain him.

Narwal has been one of the finest players of all-time when it comes to leagues like the PKL, as he has the highest number of raids to his name. His ‘Dubki’ trick makes him even more dangerous when he is in form.

4. Guman Singh (Rs1.22 crore to U Mumba)

Guman Singh, who emerged as the most expensive category B player at the auction, was a part of the Patna Pirates last season and did exceptionally well. U Mumba were looking for an Indian raider and Guman Singh was a great bid from the popular franchise.

U Mumbai might have missed the opportunity to get Pawan, however, having Guman in their squad would give them enough support in the raiding department.

3. Fazal Atrachali (Rs1.38 crore to Puneri Paltan)

If there is any overseas player who is the most loved in the PKL, then it has to be Fazal Atrachali, because of his exceptional defending skills. This match-winner has been outstanding for his respective teams on most occasions. When Fazal’s name was announced in the auction, franchises were unstoppable in bidding for him.

Puneri Paltan looked desperate to get his services and they got him at a whopping price of ₹1.38 crores. The experience of Fazal would really help the youngsters who are a part of Puneri Paltan.

2. Vikash Khandola (Rs1.70 crores to Bengaluru Bulls)

Another big buy of the season was Vikash Khandola, who was bought by the Bengaluru Bulls for a whopping ₹1.70 crores. Releasing Pawan Sehrawat was a surprising call from the franchise, but they got a player of almost the same calibre for the next season.

Khandola played his last season with the Haryana Steelers. He has become the second most expensive buy in PKL history after Pawan Sehrawat. Now, Bengaluru Bulls would see raining ‘Running Hand Touches’ from the big player.

1. Pawan Sehrawat (Rs2.26 crores to Tamil Thalaivas)

One of the hot favourites of this PKL auction, Pawan Sehrawat, did not disappoint at all when his name was announced by the auctioneer, Charu Sharma. Several teams competed for the Indian kabaddi legend, and the Tamil Thalaivas were the lucky winners in the end. Sehrawat has become the first player in PKL history to breach the ₹)2-crore mark.

The kabaddi star was the most valuable player in the Season 6 and also rated as the best raider in the previous two seasons. Tamil Thalaivas have a great chance to make complete use of his services and put themselves as strong contenders in the upcoming season.
