PKL teams with most followers on Instagram

Instagram engagement for kabaddi has grown immensely throughout the seasons!

Pro Kabaddi League has become a massive sporting event in the country and is one of the most loved leagues. Kabaddi has become a much bigger sport since the introduction of PKL and is followed massively on social media and beyond.

The league has revived our ancient sport and has put it back on the list of popular sports in India, and is now set to conquer foreign countries through the World Kabaddi League.

PKL is the second most popular league in the country after the Indian Premier League. Naturally, it is meant to draw the attention of people across all social media platforms.

All twelve teams have massive followings on Instagram, which is one of the most used social media platforms in the country. Although all the teams are close in followers, the top-ranked team beats everyone by miles. On that note, let’s have a look at the number of Instagram followers of each team in the PKL.

12. Bengal Warriorz – 236K

Bengal Warriorz are one of the teams that haven’t been able to attract followers on Instagram until now, and have the lowest Instagram following amongst the 12 teams. Season 7 champions haven’t been the most consistent teams in the league, but have had their moments.

They have 236K followers and stand in last position. The inclusion of the most successful raider, Devank Dalal, in the squad got them more followers, but still couldn’t get them out of the last spot.

11. Dabang Delhi – 268K

PKL 12 Final: Dabang Delhi clinch second title by defeating Puneri Paltan in summit clash

Despite being one of the strongest teams and two-time champions (Season 8 & 12), Dabang Delhi stand at the second-to-last, when it comes to the number of Instagram followers among the 12 teams. As much as they excel on the mat out there, their social media team hasn’t been the best one out there.

They have some massive names in the history of kabaddi, like Fazel Atrachali, Surjeet Singh, Ashu Malik, and Joginder Narwal as the Head Coach, but somehow, the social media numbers aren’t really impressive.

10. Gujarat Giants – 288K

Gujarat Giants didn’t get the desired result in the previous season and were one of the weakest groups. Similar to their performance, their Instagram account also has an underwhelming response from fans. Despite the addition of the fan favourite, Mohammadreza Shadloui, the Giants still haven’t received a massive Instagram following and are still under 300k.

9. UP Yoddhas – 333K

UP Yoddhas have been phenomenal in the last few seasons. However, they haven’t been able to lift the trophy yet. On the other hand, their social media game hasn’t been equally good. They didn’t have any big names in their squad, but they are producing massive talents as they go on.

The strong defence lineup of Sumit Sangwan, Ashu Singh, Mahender Singh and Hitesh, along with the big name Guman Singh in the attack, might lead them to better results in future.

8. Jaipur Pink Panthers – 339K

1000th PKL match is huge milestone for kabaddi world says Abhishek Bachchan

Jaipur Pink Panthers are one of the popular franchises in the league, especially because of their association with the Bachchan family. However, they still lag behind when it comes to their social media following. The two-time champion has been pretty consistent throughout the seasons, but their numbers are not among the best.

7. U Mumba – 344K

U Mumba have had some legends, such as Anup Kumar, Fazel Atrachali, Siddharth Desai, Mohit Kumar, etc., play for them in the past. However, social media wasn’t a big thing back then. The Season 2 champions have 344K followers on Instagram, and with the likes of Sunil Kumar, Ajit Chouhan, and other promising young players, it might grow at a high pace in the coming times.

6. Patna Pirates – 383K

Patna Pirates are the most successful team in the history of the Pro Kabaddi League. They have lifted the PKL trophy three times (Season 3, 4 & 5) and were on the verge of lifting it for the fourth time in the previous two seasons.

Their Instagram following does not justify their PKL record, but with their consistent performances and the young icons like Ayan Lohchab and Navdeep, they might get them the following they deserve.

Telugu Titans have a decent following on Instagram is the one team that has grown on social media with phenomenal pace in the last couple of months. However, they have been the least successful team in the league as they have finished at the bottom the most times.

They had the likes of Rahul Chaudhary, Parvesh Bhainswal, Pawan Sehrawat, Deepak Hooda, Siddharth Desai and more for them in the past. Now, with the presence of Vijay Malik, Shubham Shinde, Bharat Hooda and others, they have made a massive improvement in the results and it will surely reflect on the social media numbers as well.

4. Puneri Paltan – 553K

Season 10 champions have been consistent performers in the last few seasons. Over the years, the Paltan have created a strong fan base of 553K Instagram followers, and it will continue to grow with the kind of performance they have been showcasing lately. They have been performing phenomenally and the growth in the fan following can be seen, both in the stadiums as well as on Instagram.

The coach, Manpreet Singh, has a huge fan following, and it is reflects in their Instagram following as well.

2. Tamil Thalaivas – 585K

Tamil Thalaivas are another team that haven’t won the title yet. The Thalaivas haven’t been at their best in the last couple of years. However, their social media following is outstanding.

Despite not winning a title yet, they have the second-highest fan following on Instagram, and the fans continue to spread love for them in the stadiums all around the country as well.

1. Bengaluru Bulls – 1M

PKL 11: 'Dubki' king Pardeep Narwal guides Bengaluru Bulls to first win in Pro Kabaddi 2024

Bengaluru Bulls are the most followed PKL team on Instagram and the first team to cross the 1 Million mark. They are way ahead of their successors and lead the chart by more than 400K followers. The Bulls lifted the trophy in Season 6 and are the most loved team in the league.

They were represented by legendary names like Pardeep Narwal, Pawan Sehrawat, Ajay Thakur, Rohit Kumar, and many more. The team showed a better performance this season, and with a young team growing under the fabulous direction of BC Ramesh, the team is expected to clinch new records both on and off the field.
