These players could make big money moves ahead of the forthcoming season.
In the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL), high-performance all-rounders are priceless gems. They do not only stabilise the defence but also provide ample support to the raiders. Their high energy also acts as a positive catalyst for the teammates.
Securing the services of a good all-rounder is like grabbing a number of top players at once. Let's take a look at the five best all-rounders available for the Pro Kabaddi League season 8 auction.
5. Meraj Sheykh
The Iranian has been one of the best foreign players of the league in the past and his skills as a raider and a defender make him a useful piece to consider in the upcoming auctions. A more-raid inclined all-rounder, the former Telugu Titan and Dabang Delhi star has scored 404 points in his PKL career, including 350 raid points.
He was one of the most integral figures at the Dabang Delhi squad during season 7, reaching the finals for the first time in the club’s history. Sheykh is a reliable bet, and his experience makes him a key support pillar for any restructuring organization.
4. Sandeep Narwal
A former champion with Patna Pirates in season 3, Sandeep Narwal is one of the experienced figures in the Pro Kabaddi League. Having played in all 7 seasons, he scored 119 points in season 1, becoming the second best all-rounder of that season.
Sandeep has scored 559 points in total, 310 tackle points and 249 raid points. In season 7, he scored 76 points for U Mumba including 20 raid points as well as a brilliant 56 tackle points, helping the team to reach the knockouts.
3. Manjeet Chhillar
Even a couple of seasons ago, Manjeet Chhillar would have been the most sought-after player in the auctions. The all-rounder was the MVP of season 2 as he led the Bulls to their first-ever finals appearance by putting up exceptional performances on both ends of the mat. After two brilliant seasons, Manjeet joined the Puneri Paltans who had finished at the bottom in seasons 1 and 2. Under the leadership of Chhillar, the Paltans made the knockouts in both seasons.
His stint with the Tamil Thalaivas has been a forgettable one but his experience and leadership would make teams still want his presence by their side. He has scored 563 total points, which includes 224 raid points and 339 tackle points, a frightful mix.
2. Rohit Gulia
Gujrat Fortunegiants' captain is a surprising figure in the auction despite impressing for the franchise. Having made his debut in Pro Kabaddi League season 5, Rohit Gulia has played for the Gujarat Fortunegiants in all three of his seasons. He helped them achieve knockout qualifications in season 5 and season 6.
His most productive season failed to uplift the team. Despite, scoring 142 points in season 7 and captaining the Fortunegiants, Rohit Gulia was not able to guide them to the knockouts. However, the campaign showed a glimpse of the true potential the all-rounder held and several teams will want to utilize that to their advantage.
1. Deepak Niwas Hooda
Similar to Rohit Gulia, Deepak Niwas Hooda is the whole package. An excellent raider and a solid defender, Deepak Hooda is also a capable leader on the mat. He scored a total of 158 points in season 7 which includes a brilliant 25 do-or-die raid points, a situation he is known to excel in. He has also amassed a total of 87 tackle points in his career, including 12 in the previous season. His overall game makes him a safe bet for teams looking to add a bit of firepower on both sides of their game.
