Watch: Indian Kabaddi captain Ritu Negi suffers injury in Women's World Cup 2025 final

The Indian Kabaddi team won their second consecutive title.
The Indian team defeated Chinese Taipei in a closely fought final to lift the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025 title on Monday. This is their second World Cup victory, and that too back-to-back. They had won the inaugural World Cup trophy in 2012 after defeating Iran in the final 25–19.
They have now repeated history, once again showcasing their dominance on the biggest stage of women’s Kabaddi. Throughout the tournament, the Indian team looked confident and calm as they displayed excellent skills in both raiding and defence.

They won all their group stage matches and finished at the top of their group. After that, they continued their unbeaten streak and defeated Iran in the semi-final to set up the final clash. In the final, they faced Chinese Taipei, and in a thrilling contest, handed them a 35–28 defeat.
There were several moments in the match that decided the outcome, like the brilliant raiding performances of Sanju Devi and Pushpa Rana, and the solidity of the defence under pressure.
During the match, there was also a moment where the Indian captain, Ritu Negi, initiated a tackle but suffered an injury in the process.
Ritu Negi suffered an injury
In the first half, the match was going evenly for the first 10 minutes, but after that, India handed Chinese Taipei their first all-out. After 13 minutes, the scoreline was 18–15 in favour of India.
The Indian captain, Ritu Negi, then initiated a tackle against a Chinese Taipei raider, and while dashing, she suffered a heavy blow on her right arm. She was visibly in pain, and the physios were called onto the mat to assess her condition.
Soon after, a stretcher was brought in to carry her out of the court. She did not participate further in the match, but even without their captain on the mat, the Indian team did not let the lead slip away.
They maintained their advantage till the end, securing the win and lifting the World Cup title. The fans were disappointed to see the captain being carried away in the middle of the match, and they hope to see her back on the mat as soon as possible.
