Tamil Thalaivas release head coach Sanjeev Baliyan after controversial PKL 12 campaign

Sanjeev Baliyan leveled serious allegations against the management of Tamil Thalaivas in PKL 12.

Tamil Thalaivas have been in the spotlight throughout Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 (PKL 12), both for their on-mat struggles and off-field controversies. The team finished 10th in the points table with just 12 points, marking a disappointing campaign.

After their final match, head coach Sanjeev Baliyan attended the post-match press conference and made explosive allegations against the Thalaivas management, claiming he wasn’t given the authority to select players for the starting seven.

The statement quickly went viral on social media, leaving fans stunned by the revelations about the team’s internal issues. In response, the Tamil Thalaivas management released an official statement denying all allegations, asserting that the coach had full authority over team selections.

Following the controversy, the franchise has now officially terminated the contract of head coach Sanjeev Baliyan.

After the last league stage game of Tamil Thalaivas, head coach Sanjeev Baliyan and captain Arjun Deshwal attended the post-match press conference and made serious allegations against the team management.

Sanjeev said that he was not given the authority to select the starting seven and that the team analyst was making those decisions. He also alleged that unfit players were being given chances over fit ones. The statements quickly went viral on social media, catching the attention of fans and experts across the kabaddi community.

After the season concluded, the Thalaivas released an official statement denying all the allegations made by their head coach. The management clarified that Coach Sanjeev had complete authority over team selections and other sporting matters.

However, after a series of poor performances, some players had complained about the coaching staff’s lack of attention and feedback, which was brought to the coach’s notice and addressed internally.

The team further expressed disappointment that Sanjeev Baliyan missed 16 press conferences during the season but chose to attend the final one to make what they described as unsubstantiated remarks.

Contract termination of the head coach

Tamil Thalaivas have now officially announced through social media that they have terminated the contract of head coach Sanjeev Baliyan. The franchise also stated that a new head coach will be announced in due course.

This decision clearly shows that the management is not happy with Sanjeev Baliyan’s decision to accuse them at the press conference. The Thalaivas will now likely be looking for a more suitable and composed individual to take on the role and lead the team in the upcoming season.
