The Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) is not only popular in India but has a lot of fans across the globe. Players from foreign countries also participate in the competition which helps to increase the level and popularity of the sport. Players from Iran, Sri Lanka and South Korea have predominantly played the most in the PKL. Most notably, players from Iran have achieved a lot of success.
Here are the top 10 foreigners in the history of the Pro Kabaddi League.
10. Mohsen M. Jafari
If one talks about the all-rounders from Iran then one of the major names to come up is Mohsen Jafari. He has played alongside many exceptional players in the Pro Kabaddi League. He has scored 76 raid points and 36 tackle points in the league.
9. Farhad Rahimi
Farhad Rahimi is also an all-rounder from Iran who has flourished in the Pro Kabaddi League. He has played 62 matches for the Telugu Titans, scoring 153 points overall. He also has 79 tackle points in 62 matches.
8. Abolfazl Mahali
Mahali is another Iranian who has made a notable impact in the Pro Kabaddi League. He made his debut in the third season while representing U-Mumba. He also featured for the Patna Pirates and Dabang Delhi in the division. Mahali was one of the best performers in the fifth season of the competition.
7. Mohammed Esmail Nabibakhsh
Iranian Mohammed Esmail Nabibakhsh is one of the exceptional all-rounders at the Pro Kabaddi League. Bengal Warriors won the league title in the seventh season and Nabibakhsh had a major role in it. He has scored over 122 points in 23 appearances in the league.
6. Mohsen Maghsoudlou
Iranian Mohsen Maghsoudlou made a huge impression while playing for Telugu Titans in the sixth season of the PKL. He was a brilliant all-round player back then and scored over 29 raid points with 27 tackle points. The player was very consistent overall.
5. Hadi Oshtorak
Hadi Oshtorak of Iran was part of the Patna Pirates team that won the Pro Kabaddi League in the third and fourth seasons. He showed glimpses of his potential in these couple of seasons. Oshtorak has featured for U Mumba and Gujarat Giants in addition to the Pirates. Overall, the player has registered 72 appearances, in which he managed 109 tackle points.
4. Meraj Sheykh
Sheykh was a sensational player for Dabang Delhi. Naveen Kumar got a lot of vital support from him in the raiding department. He would score bonus and touch points on important occasions and was the skipper during the 2017 season too. Sheykh managed 104 points and became the most successful all-rounder in season five of the Pro Kabaddi League. Meraj has played 99 matches and scored 350 raid points, becoming the second-highest foreign player in terms of points scored.
3. Lee Jang-kun
Lee Jang-kun of South Korea stands as an exception to the Iranian dominance in the Pro Kabaddi League. He is the most successful foreign raider in the league. In 106 appearances overall, Lee has scored 471 points. He is an integral player for the Patna Pirates and has played with Bengal Warriors as well.
2. Abozar Mohajermighani
Mohajermighani is a brilliant defender. He is a great asset at the right corner position. In his debut season, he was the fifth best defender in the Pro Kabaddi League. Abozar made a mark while playing for the likes of Telugu Titans and Bengal Warriors. He has played over 63 matches till now and scored 160 tackle points in that time. He is second in this regard after Fazal Atrachali.
1. Fazal Atrachali
Fazal Atrachali is undoubtedly the best foreign player in the history of the Pro Kabaddi League. He has been very successful in the past while playing in the league and earned a big fan following because of it. Atrachali is a well-known figure on the international circuit and has impressed acting as the skipper of U-Mumba. The player has managed 317 tackle points in 103 matches and is the only PKL player to achieve this mark.
