Bihar had earlier hosted the inaugural edition back in 2012.

Bihar is all set to script history once more as it prepares to host the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup in March 2025. This is the second time, Bihar will organize this prestigious international event, following its successful debut as the host in 2012. The tournament will be held at the state-of-the-art Rajgir Sports Academy, with 14 nations expected to participate.

The Rajgir Sports Academy, which boasts an indoor stadium with a seating capacity of 5,000 spectators, will serve as the epicentre for all matches. Participating teams in the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup will represent eight Asian nations, including India, China, Japan, South Korea, Nepal, and potentially Pakistan, as well as six countries from Europe, Africa, and South America, such as Poland and Argentina.

Ravindran Sankaran, Director General of the Bihar State Sports Authority (BSSA), highlighted the meticulous preparations underway for this landmark Women’s Kabaddi World Cup. He revealed that the visiting teams, along with their support staff, will be accommodated at the academy itself.

“The Women’s Kabaddi World Cup will be organized in March 2025. Teams from 14 countries will participate. Eight Asian countries and the remaining six countries from Europe, South Africa, South America, and Poland will also participate in it. After discussing this, it has been decided that this event will be organized in the indoor hall of Rajgir Sports Academy,” said Sankaran.

Bihar served as host for the inaugural Women’s Kabaddi World Cup

The 2012 Women’s Kabaddi World Cup edition, held at the Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna, saw India claim the title after a thrilling final against Iran. That inaugural tournament featured 16 teams, including participants from the United States, Mexico, Japan, and Italy, setting a high standard for international kabaddi events.

This year, the stakes for the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup are even higher. The Asian Kabaddi Federation’s President, Dr. Abbas Khajeh Awarse, and the International Kabaddi Federation’s Director, Tejaswi Gehlot, have already visited Bihar to finalize key details. An MoU between the Kabaddi Federation and the state’s sports authority will soon be signed to outline the logistics, including match schedules.
