The countdown is on for the Khelo India Youth Games 2023, which will kick off on Friday in Tamil Nadu. The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi will inaugurate the mega event at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai.
The Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) is the premier sporting extravaganza under the government of India’s Khelo India scheme, which aims to foster a culture of sports among the youth of the nation. Sports enthusiasts can catch all the action of KIYG 2024 on live streaming and live broadcast in India.
The sixth edition of the multi-disciplinary under-18 competition will continue till January 31.
The Khelo India Youth Games follows the format of a team championship, where the medals won by individual athletes or teams add up to the overall medals tally of their respective state or Union Territory (UT). At the end of the event, the state or UT with the most gold medals is crowned the champion.
More than 5,500 athletes from the 36 states and Union Territories will vie for 933 medals – 278 gold, 278 silver and 377 bronze – in 26 different sports at KIYG 2024.
