The first-ever Kho Kho World Cup 2025 will be played from January 13-19 in New Delhi.

The first-ever Kho Kho World Cup is set to commence on January 13, 2025, at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi. As the federation tries to take the sport global, the tournament is a historic moment for the sport, as Kho Kho, which has its roots in India, will gain global reach and attraction.

The competition features both men’s and women’s competitions, with 39 nations, including host India. The opening ceremony is set to be held on January 13, followed by the first men’s match, where India will battle against Nepal. In the women’s category, India will face South Korea, while arch-rivals Australia and England will face each other on the same day.

The men’s category comprises four groups, with four teams in each group. Group A includes India, Nepal, Peru, Brazil, and Bhutan while Group B will feature South Africa, Ghana, Argentina, Netherlands, and Iran.

Group C will witness Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Republic of Korea, the United States of America and Poland compete with England, Germany, Malaysia, Australia, and Kenya completing Group D. The top two teams from each group qualify for the knockout stage, starting with the quarterfinals.

The women’s competition features 19 teams divided into four groups, with Group D comprising five teams. Group A includes India, Iran, Malaysia, and South Korea, while Group B comprises England, Australia, Kenya, Uganda, and the Netherlands.

Group C includes Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Germany and Bangladesh, and Group D includes South Africa, New Zealand, Poland, Peru, and Indonesia. Pakistan too was expected to participate in the event, but their team was yet to receive their visas, as a result of which they pulled out.

When and where will the Kho Kho World Cup take place?

The inaugural Kho Kho World Cup is set to take place at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi, India, making the venue a central hub for the event. The competition will begin on January 13 and end on January 19.
