Formula 1 2023: Where and how to watch F1 in India?

The new campaign will kick off with the Bahrain GP on March 5.

After the tests are done and dusted, the 2023 season of Formula 1 (F1) will be upon us, with Bahrain Grand Prix as its first major opening act.

After sorting out their reliability issues, Red Bull and Max Verstappen completely dominated the 2022 season. With seven poles, 15 wins and 17 podiums, Max had no match.

Ferrari started the season with a bang in Bahrain, but everything went downhill. Mercedes became the second-best team after the half-season mark.

Alpine and McLaren had a close-table fight in the midfield, even though Alpine were much faster. Aston Martin made a late surge into the top of the lower midfield. After Vettel's retirement, Fernando Alonso will be taking charge of Aston Martin, who have looked good in the testing.

At Mclaren, Daniel Ricciardo has been replaced by Oscar Piastri. Whereas Williams have replaced Nicholas Latifi with Logan Sargent, making him the first American driver on the grid since 2015.

No Broadcaster in India for F1

Unfortunately, Formula One (F1) is no longer on Disney+ Hotstar. Hence, no live streaming will be available for Indian and subcontinent viewers. The live telecast will also not be available.

How to watch Formula 1 in India?

Instead, Formula 1 has launched F1 TV Pro in India ahead of the 2023 season. A digital platform, F1 TV Pro will broadcast all races, including the practice and qualifying sessions, F1 Sprint events and Grand Prix.

The F1 TV subscription is way costlier than the regular OTT subscriptions people enjoy in India. In India, the F1 TV Access plan is priced at ₹1,649 for one year, whereas the annual subscription for F1 TV Pro costs ₹2,499. That stands almost thrice costlier than Hotstar's basic yearly plan.

The Access plan does not contain live telecasts. At the same time, the Pro plan consists of multiple camera angles and screens (live and on-demand).

Bahrain GP will be free!

However, citing the cost problem and addressing that F1 TV hasn't really cracked the Indian market, the opening weekend of the season will be free! It comes under the free trial to attract subscribers later on.

F1 TV is not just all about Formula 1. The subscription will include on-demand coverage of Formula 2 and Formula 3 as well. This means Indian racing fans can catch up on Kush Maini's and Jehan Daruvala's weekends.
