Maharashtra leads the medal tally.
Maharashtra continued to dominate the medal standings at the National Games 2023, having crossed the double-century medal mark. The 200th medal for the state came in the thrilling triathlon mixed relay event at Miramar Beach. Maharashtra firmly holds the top position with a stunning tally of 70 gold, 64 silver, and 69 bronze medals.
The defending champions, Services, and Haryana closely trail behind, setting the stage for a thrilling culmination to this prestigious sporting event.
In a day filled with gripping sporting action at the National Games, West Bengal’s ace shooter, Mehuli Ghosh, showcased her mastery in the women’s 10m air rifle event by securing the coveted gold medal. Mehuli’s remarkable feat is even more significant, as she is one of the esteemed 13 shooters who have successfully secured quota places for India at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Her impressive score of 253.7 in the finals propelled her to the top of the podium, while Haryana’s Nancy Mandhotra (251.0) settled for the silver medal, and Swati Chowdhury from West Bengal earned the bronze.
The excitement continued to surge as Punjab’s Rajeshwari Kumari demonstrated her extraordinary prowess by achieving a perfect score of 50 in two rounds during the women’s trap event. Meanwhile, in the men’s competition, Gujarat’s Bakhtyaruddin Malek exhibited his dominance by leading the field with a score of 49 after two rounds at the Pernem Shooting Range.
