Fire kills 10 at Flamengo's youth centre

The incident reportedly happened in the area where players sleep.

First, it was Emiliano Sala! Now it is Flamengo! It looks like that football doesn't have Lady Luck on its side!

A devastating fire in Brazil has claimed the lives of 10 people at Flamengo's training centre in Vargem Grande, in Rio de Janeiro. Also, three others have been injured. Meanwhile, it is also being reported that one of them is in critical condition. 

Also the Brazilian media has stated that the incident happened in the area where players sleep. The survivors are Emanoel Gomes (14-years-old), Francisco Alves (15-years-old), and Jonathan Ventura (15-years-old).

Also in an interview with Sportv, a nearby apartment complex's worker said that he heard an explosion at around 5:10 AM local time, and then a power outage followed. Also the fire was extinguished two and a half hours after the incident.

According to Reuters, the training centre was expanded two months ago into a state-of-the-art facility.

Flamengo is one of the most popular clubs in the world, especially in South America. They currently play in the Brazilian top-tier. This could be a huge setback for the outfit, and its youth development.
