The Bluebirds ended their Premier League campaign at the 18th position, being relegated for the next season.

Neil Warnock is set to continue as the coach of Cardiff City FC next season again. The 70-year-old English manager of the Welsh club wants to continue for yet another season, seeing out his entire contract.

The manager would meanwhile help the club to find his rightful successor who could carry on his legacy with the club. Neil Warnock has been the manager of Cardiff City since October 2016. The decision comes after the English manager had a meeting with the chairman of the club, Mehmet Dalman, and chief executive, Ken Choo.

The two were very impressed with what Warnock has given to the club until now, as they want the manager to continue despite of getting relegated from the Premier League this season.

Although the manager feels gutted to have been relegated with the club and couldn't help much about it, he is still thankful for the support shown to him by the club owner who personally assured him of his continuity with the Welsh club.

“When you get relegated the manager’s position is usually in doubt,” Warnock told BBC Radio Wales. “But Vincent [Tan, Cardiff owner] made it clear last week that he wanted me to stay, and how can you not want to when you see how the fans have been with me over the last couple of years?

“It rankles a little bit that we got relegated. I just feel it’s not the time to change with the squad I’ve got and the players I want to bring in. But we’ve got to obviously look for a replacement for me now. I would like to think we could do well and I can help them in that selection.”

The manager hasn't been an alien to the relegation and promotion battle between the top Championship and bottom Premier League clubs. He has been promoted to the top division league for a record eight times in 40 years of management.

The manager who started his managerial carrier with Gainsborough Trinity Football Club now aspires to win the promotion for a record-extending ninth time, and he wishes to do that with Cardiff City. This is because of the trust shown on him and as an act of returning the favour to the club.

The manager plans to continue with the way things are run and would look just for a couple of addition to the squad of the team for the upcoming season.

“I feel we’ve got more chance of attaining success by keeping things how they are and adding to the squad with two or three players,” he said.
