Chennai City FC players get trained by former Nigeria national team manager

The I-league debutants are already showing the right intent with sending their players to train under one of the most celebrated of African coaches.

I-League newbies Chennai City FC had a decent outing in their first ever league appearance as they notched up four wins in the season. What caught the eyes for the team was some of the young talents that came into the spotlight while playing for the team.

Having an I-League team from Chennai gives an incredible platform for budding footballers in Tamil Nadu to aspire and grab an entry in the top tier league in India. Promoted by young entrepreneur Rohit Ramesh, Chennai City FC has grand plans with showcasing of local talent being at the core.

The club recently scripted a long term associated with Finnish side JS Hercules. A partnership for self-sustenance both Hercules and Chennai City FC has huge ambitions and are investing on a bright future ahead.

As a part of their ongoing partnership, Chennai City FC sent four first XI footballers to train with JS Hercules for over a month. Micheal Soosairaj, Nanda Kumar, Edwin Sydney Vanspaul and A Beautin are the four footballers currently training under former Nigeria head coach David Amokachi.

Commenting on the move Chennai City FC owner Rohit Ramesh said, “It’s good for the state (Tamil Nadu), opportunity to be there, learn the culture, and understand how football is played there. It’s a good opportunity provided to the players.”

The four footballers in question are all aged between 20 – 24 years and have their prime career ahead of them. Having played their part for Chennai City FC during the season, they will now get enriched through the process of training with the Finnish 2nd Division side.
