The Football Association in England have decided to award a contract extension to English National Team manager Gareth Southgate till 2022. This will see him managing England in the Euro 2020 and FIFA World Cup 2022.

The extension comes in after an emphatic outing in Russia 2018, where he took the team to the semis but had to return without a silverware having lost to Belgium in the Bronze medal match. England reached the last four of the competition for the first time since 1990.

Southgate took over Sam Allardyce who was infamously sacked by the FA for allegedly being a part of the match-fixing fiasco in November 2016. Gareth, at that time, was leading the U-21 side of the country and he has stayed since then.

Southgate oversaw two wins and as many draws after being named interim manager in the wake of Allardyce's exit, which earned him the right to take on the job permanently. The 48-year-old has since won 13, drawn four and lost six of his matches at the helm.
