Harry Kane is back on track after scoring a double against Huddersfield at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The Gameweek 7 of the Premier League saw some rather intriguing clashes as there were some key movements in the top half of the table. Arsenal seem to finally have come back to winning ways with a dominant display against Watford. Defending champions Manchester City went on top of the table with a comfortable 2-0 win at home against Brighton and Hove Albion. Meanwhile at West Ham’s London Stadium, Manchester United had a disappointing day as they came home empty-handed with a 3-1 loss to the Hammers.

In this article, we at Khel Now analyze five talking points observed during the Gameweek 7 of England’s top tier:

5. Marco Silva’s Everton finally have a win

After dropping points consecutively for four matches, Everton finally managed to earn three points at home. A double strike from Gylfi Sigurdsson and another from Cenk Tosun were enough for the Merseyside club to dump a low-lying Fulham.

The Toffees, who are currently placed 11th in the table look to build on this win and hope to feature in the top half of the table in the next week as they visit Leicester City at the weekend.

4. James Maddison continues with his excellent run of form

The former Norwich man has been a revelation this season

Leicester City look to have found a new talisman in James Maddison. Since his signing from Norwich City in the summer, Maddison has shown a string of brilliant performances for the Foxes. The fans are already raving about the 21-year old’s display as ‘unreal’ as he has been directly involved in 5 goals in as many as 7 games.

England manager Gareth Southgate was spotted last week at St. James’ Park during Leicester’s 2-0 win against Newcastle United and reports suggest that Maddison might receive a call-up for international duty due in next month.

3. Arsenal already look stronger than last season

New manager Unai Emery has had a comfortable start to life at the Emirates as in just 7 games, the Gunners have already shown positive signs for this season. Apart from losing out to bitter rivals Chelsea and Manchester City, Arsenal have a 100% record in the League.

Besides, the partnership between Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang looks to finally have been striking, much to the relief for the fans. If the duo continues with their good form, the Gunners might stand a good chance in the Europa League this season, if not for the Premier League.

2. Has the vintage Daniel Sturridge returned?

Little was expected of Daniel Sturridge before the start of the season as the deadly trio of last season Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane continued to be favoured by Jurgen Klopp. However, after scoring with his first touch against West Ham followed by a header against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, the 29 year-old looked as a viable option for Klopp since Salah has been caught off form.

After scoring again in the Carabao Cup, Sturridge scored a stunning goal against his former club Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge with just one minute to go for stoppage time. His strike meant, Liverpool are unbeaten in the Premier League with 6 wins and 1 draw in 7 games.

1. West Ham mount pressure on under-fire Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho

Brazilian Anderson scored an exquisite goal against United

What could be deemed as the highlight of the Gameweek 7, this fixture brought in a lot of speculations over the future of Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford. Previously drawing to Wolverhampton at home, the Red Devils were expected to bounce back with a win against a lowly West Ham. But to the disappointment of fans, the team returned with a 3-1 loss which means that most decorated club in the League stands at the 10th place in the table, with just 10 points having played 7 matches.

Mourinho has since been constantly criticized by his players as well as the fans for his defend-minded football. Apparently, the Portuguese also had a fall-out with a couple of players including Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez.

All of this leads to one question, will he be sacked?
