India U-20s set to travel to Croatia for four-nation face-off

The Blue Colts will face the hosts, France and Slovenia.

The India U-20 side will travel to Croatia to face the youth sides of some of world football's  powerhouses in a tournament, including the likes of France, hosts Croatia and Slovenia. After defeating Argentina U-20 2-1 inn the COTIF tournament a few days ago, the All India Football Federation has announced that the team will be heading to play a four-nation tournament in Eastern Europe. 

The tournament will be held between 4-9 September and will be, by far, the toughest test for the young Colts. The senior teams of France and Croatia played the final of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which France won it style. Slovenia, on the other hand, are ranked 56th in the world. France fielded the youngest team in the 21st edition of the World Cup.

The AIFF director of national teams Abhishek Yadav was in Spain and conveyed, "The plan for this season is to constantly test ourselves with the topmost footballing nations. The calendar has been very thoughtfully planned and it's important to see where we stand."

"We are and will continue to learn from such high-level matches. It's great to have such backing from all the stakeholders, especially the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Authority of India who are supporting these age-group teams like never before," he said. He laid the importance in learning from these experiences more than the results them.
