The Junior Gaurs climbed four points clear at the top of the table.

Vasco Sports Club once again conceded late goals as they went down to FC Goa by a 3-0 margin in a Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Liston Colaco, Imrank Khan and Lalawmpuia scored in the last 30 minutes to book all three points for the junior Gaurs. With these three points, Goans are four points clear at the top as they have 26 points from 10 matches, while Vasco has 10 points from 11 matches.

Vasco who had faced three defeats in a row against Sporting Clube de Goa, Dempo SC and Salgaocar FC in the last three matches had few changes to their side as their gaffer Micky Fernandes gave the first start to the U-20 midfielder Pidroy Carvalho, while Lenstan Afonso and Moises D’Sa were back in the lineup for the Port Towners. On the other hand, defender Lalnunsiama and forward Lalawmpuia were the two changes for the Goan side who eased past Guardian Angel SC in their previous round match.

The first half belonged to the Goans who completely dominated the session with continues attacks from every side. However, it also belonged to Vasco’s brave defensive wall led by their skipper Lenstan along with Mainoo Dadanavoor, Minesh Kunkolkar, Shubham Malwankar and Sanwil D’Costa who kept the opponent at the bay with superb defending. Whereas, Vasco custodian Sanju Thapa also made some superb saves in the first half to keep his side safe.

The Goans had a chance to surge ahead in the early minutes when Liston Colaco made a brilliant move on the wing, cutting past few opponents on his way to enter the box but his scorching shot was divingly pushed for a corner by keeper Thapa.

The Port Towners also had an opportunity to stun the rivals in the 17th minute when Schubert easily dribbled past an opponent in the halfway line and made a superb through pass to Anil Gaonkar in the box but Goan keeper Shubham Dhas came off his line to thwart the winger.

At the other end, Thapa once again came with a breath-taking save to rescue his side as this time Vasco custodian acrobatically denied Lalawmpuia goalbound shot at the cost of a corner.

The Junior Gaurs should have taken the lead in the last few minutes of the first session but Liston twice failed to keep his shots on target with just Vasco keeper Thapa at the stake.

The Goans defence who had a walk in the park in the first session was brought to the action by Vasco attackers at the start of the second half as Port Towners regrouped at the lemon break and came out all gun buzzing but aimless shots from Schubert and Sanwil made it easy for the junior Gaurs.

A few minutes later, Goans were back in their shoes again as they tried to build up the pressure on the opponents as finally managed to break the deadlock in the 61st minutes when Lalawmpuia’s cross was nicely executed into the back of the net by Liston from close to put his side into the lead.

Just after conceding the goal, Vasco’s players continued to make errors in the danger area and conceded two more goals in the next 20 minutes as first, Schubert made a back pass to substitute Imran Khan just outside the box who easily danced past a defender and shot past Vasco custodian from just inside the box to double their lead 71st minute.

While in the 81st minute, Imran made a brilliant through pass to Lalawmpuia in the box who smartly beat the Vasco keeper Thapa with his last touch to make it 3-0 for the junior Gaurs.
