Bardez moved to the 8th place with five points from eight matches played, while Panjim remained at the 10th position with just four points from six outings.
Panjim Footballers managed to hold Bardez FC to a goalless draw in a Goa Professional League match, played at Duler Stadium earlier today. Before this match, Panjim were in poor form as they had suffered a massive defeat at the hands of Velsao SCC, while they were yet to register a win. On the other hand, Bardez had secured a lone victory against Calangute Association after playing seven matches, while they had managed to hold Vasco SC in the last match.
Both the teams fought equally for the possession where either side had marched on each other on a number of occasions in the first 15 minutes, but neither side succeeded in breaking opponent’s defence.
As the match progressed, Panjim came with few potent attacks as Clifton Fernandes and Jaison Fernandes tried their luck with long rangers but Bardez keeper Royal Basumatory cleared the danger on both the occasions. Panjim had a great opportunity in the 39th minutes when their winger Daryl Costa found Snedden Rodrigues in the box with a cross but the forward failed to keep his header on target.
Bardez had only one clear chance in the entire session as their skipper Cho Lepcha was left with just keeper to beat but the striker’s weak shot from distance was easily collected by Panjim keeper Sherwin da Cunha.
Panjim midfielder Daryl had the best chance to put his side ahead in the early minutes of the second session when he was perfectly fed by Akram Yadwad with a long cross but the winger completely failed to connect open header from close as the ball travelled in the safe hands of Bardez keeper Royal.

The second session also witnessed more of physical play from both the ends where referee Shaikh Aboo was not hesitant to book the players as Bardez’s Babun Das, Sanjay Vengurlekar and Carl D’Souza were shown the yellow cards, while Panjim’s Prasil Kunkolakr and Joel Colaco also came in referee’s book.
The Capital city side were reduced to the 10-men in the 58th minutes when their defender Prasil was booked for the second time in the match followed by the Red card for a reckless tackle on Bardez midfielder Rungsing Muinao.
[KH_RELATED_NEWS title="Related News"][/KH_RELATED_NEWS]Though Panjim had a disadvantage of one less player on the field, they were the dominant side in the rest of the session as Capital city side had another golden opportunity to take the lead when their skipper Snedden made an individual effort to beat two defenders but his goalbound shot from close was timely blocked by Bardez defender Sonam Bhutia.
Daryl should have booked all three points for Panjim in the dying minutes of the match when he was once again fed with a perfect cross by Alston Camotio but the winger saw his header went into the waiting gloves of Bardez custodian Royal.
