With this draw, Vasco have 10 points from seven matches, while Bardez has four points from seven matches.

Sonam Bhutia scored in the added time as Bardez FC held Vasco Sports Club to a high scoring 2-2 draw in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium earlier today.

Cho Lepcha stunned the host side in the early minutes, while, Lenstan Afonso and Aman Govekar scored for the Port Towners to take the lead.

Vasco who had drawn with Corps of Signals in the last had three major changes to their squad as their defenders Myran Pereira and Shubham Malwankar were out due to double bookings, while Minesh Kunkolkar also missed the match, wherein, Neville Albuquerque, Mainoo Dadanavoor and Sanwil D’Costa replaced them in the starting XI. Beneston Barretto also found the place in the lineup for the Port Towners

On the other hand, Bardez coach Savio D’Souza also made few changes to his side following a massive defeat at the hands of Churchill Brothers in the previous round match as Goalkeeper Royal Basumatory, Kalaiyarasan and Aniket Agarwadekar made into the cut, while newly signed Babun Das also made into the lineup for the North Goan club.

Vasco started the match on attacking note and made continues attacks on the opponents but could not find the net as Bardez defenders somehow managed to keep the danger away.

At the other end, Bardez had the best chance to take the lead in the 12th minutes when they were awarded a free-kick just outside the box but Cho Lepcha’s header rebound off the post off Ricard Cardoz’ free-kick. However, in the 27th minutes, the same combination worked to take Bardez into the lead as Richard’s cross was brilliantly headed in by the skipper Lepcha making it 1-0 for his side.

Vasco tried to come back in the match with few attacks on the opponents but none of their attempts managed to break Bardez’s defence until the halftime as the Northern side went into the breather with a slender lead.

Vasco came out all after changing the ends as first, Schubert made a short pass to substitute Moises D’Sa but his powerful shot from the top of the box was brilliantly pushed for a corner by Bardez keeper Royal. D’Sa had another chance to find the equaliser in the 63rd minute when Beneston found the substitute with a lob pass but the winger failed to keep his shot on target.

Though D’Sa could not find the net in the last two attempts, the midfielder contributed in the equaliser with a beautiful free-kick from the right flank which was smartly headed in by skipper Lenstan Afonso to make it all equal for his side.

Pumped-up by the leveller, Vasco took just five more minutes to surge ahead in the match for the first time as Schubert’s cross was brilliantly tapped in by U-20 striker Aman Govekar to make it 2-1 for the Port Towners.

Bardez had a chance to level back in the dying minutes of the match but Vasco custodian Sanju Thapa pushed Richards goalbound attempt for a corner. However, Bardez made it all square from the resulting corner as Richards corner was brilliantly headed in the top corner by Sonam Bhutia to make it 2-2 for his side.

Bardez striker Ong Lepcha should have sealed the win for his side in the added time when Richard came with another cross in the box but the striker failed to keep his header on target with just Vasco keeper Sanju at the stake.
