The Men of Steel finished in fifth place last season and will aim to perform better this time around.

With the Indian Super League (ISL) 2018/19 season on the horizon, Jamshedpur Football Club (JFC) introduced their entire squad at a Press Conference in Russi Modi Center For Excellence.

Tata Group’s commitment to improve football

Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata envisaged not only Asia's first fully integrated Steel Plant but also the model township of Jamshedpur. He advised his son, Sir Dorab Tata, to earmark "areas for Football, Hockey and Parks."

Under JRD Tata’s stewardship, Tata Steel introduced world-class football to India through the famous Super Soccer series. Some of the top clubs of Europe and South America played against India’s best.

T.F.A., in fact, was established while J.R.D.Tata was the Company's Chairman and became a reality with his active support. A keen and skilful sportsman himself, J.R.D.Tata provided great encouragement to all sports disciplines. The academy has many accolades to its credit and has produced 141 players who have gone on to represent the Indian national team.

Jamshedpur Football Club’s debut season

JFC finished in 5th place in their debut season of the ISL. The club signed future mainstays in the likes of Subrata Paul, Tiri, etc.

The players won accolades for their performances during the 2017/18 season. Subrata Paul won the Golden Glove award, Jerry won the FPAI Young Player of the Year and Tiri and Wellington were part of the fans’ team of the year.

The fans played a major part as The Furnace saw an average attendance of 22,980 at an average attendance rate of 94% (highest in the ISL 2017/18).

Thoughts on the upcoming season

To address the media, seated at the panel were, were Sunil Bhaskaran (Director, JFC), Mukul Choudhari (CEO, JFC), César Ferrando (Head Coach – JFC).

Club Chairman, Sunil Bhaskaran added, “The idea is to make Jamshedpur Football Club the best in the world. We are in the process to make sure this season we provide maximum joy to our fans and the other stakeholders. I welcome the team to Jamshedpur.”

Club CEO, Mukul Choudhari was highly positive and optimistic about the upcoming season as he said, "We aspire to go one step better than the last season. And we are looking forward to the likes of Tim Cahill and the entire squad to bring joy and entertainment to the fans of Jamshedpur FC."

JFC Head Coach, César Ferrando, explained his approach for the club in the new season. He said, "Our pre-season went as per expectations, we played some good teams back in Spain and we are now looking forward to our first match. There is a good camaraderie within the squad. We are looking forward to bringing a lot of joy for the fans.”

Paytm and Insider.in announced as JFC’s ticketing partners for the next three seasons of ISL

One97 Communications Limited, that owns the brand Paytm, India’s largest digital payments company has partnered with Jamshedpur FC as their official ticketing partner for the next 3 seasons of the Indian Super League. Under the terms of this engagement, Paytm and its subsidiary Insider.in will provide comprehensive ticketing solutions for all matches held at JRD Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur which is JFC’s home stadium.

Fans would be able to purchase their tickets & merchandise on Paytm app or by scanning the Paytm QR placed at several convenient locations across Jamshedpur.
