Exclusive: Mohun Bagan part ways with Diogo Ferreira
The midfielder failed to feature for the Mariners having been on the sidelines with an injury sustained in pre-season
Mohun Bagan have come to a mutual understanding of releasing Australian Midfielder Diogo Ferreira, Khel Now understands. The defensive midfielder was signed by the Mariners in the summer and became their fourth signing of the season, with Sanjoy Sen looking to fill the void of many of Bagan's players who opted to play in the Indian Super League this season.
But, while The Mariners were excited to see what the midfielder could bring, he could never get going and was nowhere to be found in their first three games of the season. Diogo had suffered an injury in the pre-season prior to the I-League kicking off and it is understood that the midfielder was finding it very difficult to make a proper recovery from it.
There were also other factors which led to his release, as he wasn't being able to go through training properly and was lagging behind the others. The Australian midfielder apparently couldn't adapt to the conditions and was finding it difficult to play in India's rough weather. It is also understood that the food didn't suit him at all, with the strongman getting food poisoning due to not fancying the food provided to him.
