The Brazilian has settled well in the Merseyside club since his arrival this season.

Alisson Becker at one point of time became the most expensive goalkeeper in the world after Liverpool paid a whopping £67 million to AS Roma to secure his services. Since then, he has performed exceptionally well, fulfilling every expectation that the fans and the club had towards him.

His contribution to Liverpool’s title challenge in this term is well backed up by the stats. In a total of 39 appearances, the custodian has managed an impressive 20 clean sheets and conceded only 26 goals. He is also the leading the Premier League clean sheets chart with 17 to his name.

Speaking to the official Liverpool FC magazine, the keeper talked about his private life off the field. He said, “I have been having regular English lessons. One of the hardest challenges I had at the start was getting used to the accent, not just the British accent but the Liverpool accent! But I’ve managed to deal with this. I can understand people and I can communicate with my teammates, which is really important.”

The 26-year-old also spoke about his early experience in the squad and added that, “When I came here I felt that everyone was important for me, not just the Brazilians. Obviously, Roberto Firmino was already here and then Fabinho arrived more or less the same time as I did. All the players are important, be they the local players from the UK or the players from overseas. I admire the strength we have as a team and the quality that every single one of our players has, but the most important thing for me is the team spirit.

In response to being asked about his home back in Brazil and family, the keeper responded by saying that, “My brother lives in Portugal, which is not too far, and comes when he can. That helps when I’m missing them. When I think about Brazil, I miss it a lot but I have been welcomed here and I feel very much at home. The whole group received me very well. The fans have been very kind too, as have the technical team, so I’m really happy here in Liverpool.”

After having unfortunate spells with previous goalkeepers, Liverpool fans have finally found a figure between the sticks that can be relied upon. The gaffer, Jurgen Klopp is surely a happy man since the defensive ailments and frequent conceding of goals have been remedied by the signing of Alisson. With Premier League and Champions League still up for grabs, exciting times are ahead for The Reds who will be banking on their star keeper to keep the shots at bay.
