The Reds face Newcastle with a depleted squad in their bid to stay at the top of the table.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp believes that it is in the best of the interests of the club to be open to signing new players. Liverpool has been unbeaten in the Premier League this season, thanks to some big signings made in the past few seasons by the club.

Liverpool sits at the top of the table in the Premier League and has qualified in the knockout stages of the Champions League after having been drawn in the toughest group.

Naby Keita, Fabinho, Mo Salah and Virgil Van Dijk are some of the big names that Liverpool signed to strengthen their squad.

But recently the club from Merseyside has been plagued with injuries to these key signings. Joe Gomez, Joel Matip, Trent-Alexander Arnold and Naby Keita have all been in need of medical attention.

"I'm very happy with what I've got but I've always said, you don't know," said Klopp. "I'll keep the door open.

"If some things happen, then we need to have a look. A monstrous number of games are coming up. It is really important that we can react.

"If something dramatically changes, we will need to have a look but if nothing happens, then we will not do anything."

With key players getting injured and ruled out, veterans like James Milner have been asked to fit in unusual positions.

Jurgen Klopp thinks it's not okay for a club with so many ambitions, having to depend on the versatility of the oldest member of the squad. So the Liverpool boss hasn't completely ruled out the possibility of signing new names.

"We don't have that many options anymore because we have two injured centre-halves so that immediately limits everything," said Klopp.

"We are not that versatile. Yes, [James] Milner can play five or six different positions, that is not a problem for him, but there are not a lot of players who can play that many positions.
