The former Southampton man is currently in good form for both club and country.

Virgil van Dijk was out on international break captaining Ronald Koeman’s Dutch side but the possibility of winning two important trophies with his club is still on the back of his mind. Liverpool sit on top of the Premier League table with seven games left. Current champions Manchester City  are two points behind and having played a game less, are still favourites to retain the title.

Liverpool are also in the quarterfinals of the Champions League where they received a rather favourable draw when they got matched with Porto.

Nevertheless, Van Dijk wants the group to focus on the big prizes which involves delivering silverware to the Anfield after years of pain and failure.

"It's definitely what I wanted. You hope to be in this kind of position - challenging for the Premier League title, being as far as we are in the Champions League now and reaching the final last season. I think the ultimate thing would be winning something with Liverpool and we still have any chance to win it. So let's just go for it," the No.4 told Premier League Productions.

He added, "The most important thing is to enjoy it. We have to give it our all and make sure we have no regrets at the end of it."

Virgil van Dijk has been playing at an exceptionally high level and with regular consistency. He has often looked like a one-man defensive unit for Liverpool this season and is yet to have a bad game. Along with Gerard Pique, Van Dijk has surely been the best defender in the world this season and definitely, the best in England. In that light, he has been receiving shouts for the PFA Player of the Year award and his teammate, Andrew Robertson hasn’t stopped singing his praises.

Van Dijk has been instrumental and pivotal in a Liverpool backline that has recorded a league-high 17 clean sheets this campaign, conceding just 18 goals.

"In my position when things are going well it's pretty easy to say that I'm sort of the guy that fixes everything," he said.

"But if things are going bad then I'm the one that gets all the blame. In the end, we all do it together. If you look at the way we play, defend and attack, it starts up front. The amount of work they do is unbelievable."

He also stated, "In the back as well, obviously Alisson has come in, but look at Trent [Alexander-Arnold], Robbo [Robertson] has been outstanding. Dejan [Lovren], Joel [Matip] and obviously Joe [Gomez] before he got injured was amazing. I think everyone has played their part in it."

He further quipped, "It's not about one player. But it doesn't change the fact that I'm feeling pretty good."
