The London outfit go into the next round, on the expense of Group B opponents Inter Milan.

Mission impossible became possible, with Brazilian Lucas Moura donning a 'Tom Cruise-esque' role to save Tottenham from the gallows of getting knocked out from the UEFA Champions League.

The former PSG man equalized for his side in the 85th-minute against Barcelona, sending his team to the Round of 16, on the expense of Group B opponents Inter Milan, who sould have done better in their draw against PSV Eindhoven, in San Siro.

After the encounter in Nou Camp, Spurs gaffer Mauricio Pochettino stated that now his side can play Champions League football in the club's new stadium. Spurs are supposed to shift to their new stadium in January or February 2019.

It almost looked like that the Premier League club would be playing in the Europa League with Ousmane Dembele opening the scoring for Barcelona with a tremendous solo effort. Spurs had to match Inter's result, who were in a stalemate against PSV, but Lady Luck had other plans, with the English finding a late leveller.

For most part of the 90 minutes in Catalunya, Barcelona completed dominated with the likes of Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Gerard Pique, Sergi Roberto, Jordi Alba, and Marc-André ter Stegen not starting for the Spanish outfit.

Pochettino said, "I am so happy, so proud, I think people said it was mission impossible but we are here and we are in the next stage, it is a massive achievement for the club, we are so happy for the fans. It is a massive boost for the club, to have the idea to play the next stage in the new stadium is a massive motivation for us."

He further added, "Of course it is great for the club, a massive achievement for the club. The possibility of playing Champions League football in our new stadium will be a big boost for everyone. It’s so important for the club and the players, but for me it is always about to win and now we are happy and are going to enjoy a little bit."

Spurs weren't bad against Barcelona. They created enough chances to end their opposition's five-year unbeaten European home record, but Dutch #1 Jasper Cillessen put in an inspired performance to prove his mettle in front of the home crowd. It won't be a suprise if a big offer comes in for the former Ajax man in the winter transfer window.

The Argentina gaffer quipped, "It is a massive achievement for this group of players for the club. I am so happy. I am so happy because no one believed in us after three games, defeat against Inter, defeat against Barcelona, draw with PSV. It was an unbelievable effort."

With PSV leading early on in San Siro, it looked like even a defeat would send Tottenham through to the next round. But to add a twist, Mauro Icardi equalised with just 15 minutes to go. Pretty soon enough, Lucas Moura scored the equalizer for Spurs, with his side going through due to a better head-to-head record against the Serie A side.
