Football is what I know, It is what I have done my whole life- Wayne Rooney on managerial job
The United legend wants to follow Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard into the dugout.
The former captain and the leading goalscorer of England and Manchester United has spoken about his post-retirement plans. While he has no immediate plans to retire after finding a new lease of life in the States with DC United.
But once after hanging his boots, Rooney plans on to moving to management and has already started working towards the required qualifications.
The revelation comes after a successful start to a managerial career for Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard. Talking further about it, he has lifted the lid on what kind of manager he would be.
"A good way to start out as a manager is to, first of all, be honest with your players but also know your players and know how to manage them. I think man-management is more important sometimes than the training you do," he told the Mail On Sunday.
He said, "Football is what I know. It is what I have done my whole life. I just think it a shame when you see players who have had careers like mine, when they have been footballers from a young age, you see them finish and they just walk away from the game."
Rooney went on to hail Gerrard and Lampard, who have taken their first steps into management at Rangers and Derby respectively.

"Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard have moved into management and I think it is brilliant for those two. It is the right time for young English managers to step forward. I am sure in two or three years there will be clubs in the Premier League coming to try to snatch them away," he added.
Wayne Rooney switched to the Major League Soccer in June 2018 after playing for Everton for a season. Before that, he left Manchester United after 13 years and scoring 251goals.
