Substitute Koko Sakibo starred in the emphatic win with a brace.
FC Bardez Goa beat Corps of Signals 3-1 in a Goa Professional League matched played at Duller Stadium earlier today.
FC Bardez were the dominant force the whole match, as Corps of Signals did not have many chances on goal.
FCBG took complete control of the possession right from the start and got their reward through a penalty, as Alesh Sawant was brought down and Peter stepped up and scored. As Sarineo was injured, Koko Sakibo was brought on and the substitute scored two goals for the pink Brigade. FC Bardez conceded a goal in the last seconds of play as Kuldeep Kumar scored the goal.
In the 11th minute FC Bardez got a free-kick just outside the box Alesh Sawant stepped up and took a powerful shot as he wanted to drill the ball into the back of the net, but the ball took a deflection off the defender for a corner. In the 35th minute Alesh was brought down in the box by Kuldeep Kumar and a penalty was awarded. Peter Carvalho stepped up to take it and calmly placed it in the bottle left corner to give his side the lead. Two minutes Later Sarineo Fernandes was substituted by Koko Sakibo as the former was injured. Deep in first half injury time Peter made a super pass to Alesh Sawant who covered some ground with the ball and unleashed a bullet, but had to see it go wide.
Just six minutes after the start of the second half, FC Bardez got a corner. Girish Naik played it short as Alesh Sawant was right there. He crossed the ball inside, Koko Sakibo reached for the header and headed it in to make it 2-0. In the 66th minute Corps of Signals substitute Vishnu tried a low grounded curling shot. The keeper collected it easily. In the 72nd minute Koko had a chance to make it 3-0. Kirtikesh Gadekar passed the ball to Koko, who made a brilliant run past a defender and only had the keeper to beat, he beat the keeper but couldn’t convert into an open net. In the 85 minute FC Bardez could have conceded a goal as substitute Lairellakpam Singhthe tried to tap the ball over the goalkeeper, but somehow Mirshad K, stopped it and punched it wide. Just a minute later at the other end, FC Bardez striker Koko Sakibo got the ball from a rebound just inside the six yard box and tapped it in to make it 3-0. In the third minute of second half injury time Mirshard K couldn’t keep his clean sheet, as Kuldeep Kumar, the defender got the ball just outside the box and as the goalkeeper rushed in front, he chipped the ball over the keeper into the net to make it 3-1.
FC Bardez are currently leading the table with 17 points having played 8 games. On the other hand Corps of Signals are on the 10th spot with only 4 points having played 7 matches.
Assistant Coach Climax Lawrance said, “We dominated the whole game, but the only fault we did was concede that last-minute goal , but at the end we won the match and we are sitting on top of the table and we are happy about it “
