The Spaniard insists his side can do better in the upcoming games despite their recent form.
Following a 3-1 defeat to Gokulam Kerala, East Bengal now look forward to the Kolkata derby. Ahead of the big match, East Bengal coach Alejandro Menendez spoke to the media in the pre-match press conference. The head coach looked confident despite their loss in the previous match against Gokulam Kerala. “All sports have wins and losses. It is just a motivation to win the next match. I have full confidence in my squad." [KH_ADWORDS type="4" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS] "In these kinds of game the past does not matter. It happens around the world. Past records cannot predict the outcome of derby. We have some problems like Borja but irrespective of that we are fighting, I trust my players.” Further, Alejandro Menendez was adamant there is no reason for panic for his side going against the table toppers. “15 days ago we were top of the table. It was almost one year without losing a game in I-League. I think judging on two games is a short perspective. You have to have a bigger picture. We lacked in certain situations. We made some mistakes at some moments but that happens.” He also stated that scoring goals was not a concern for them saying, “We are creating numerous chances. But then as I said, sometimes it gets converted sometimes it doesn’t. We scored goals which were not given. Overall, we scored good number of goals. Of course we can score more and do better because we are creating.” Moreover, Alejandro Menendez commented on how this match was different from the last time these two sides met. “It is a very different derby. We were in pre-season in the CFL. Both teams were growing and preparing. Now the teams are more settled. We are facing a game in the most important competition. A win in this match will help you to be in a better position in the league."Team News
Samad Ali Mallick will miss the game due to an injury. Apart from him, Alejandro Menendez has a full squad to select from ahead of the derby. [KH_RELATED_NEWS title="Related News | Article Continues Below"][/KH_RELATED_NEWS]Probable Lineup
